Out with the old, in with the bold. Cheney is yesterday's news. Hope he enjoys his retirement. Too bad McCain, Lautenberg and others aren't yet on theirs.

I'm for term limits and age limits too. The Senate seems to double for an old elitist folks home which many members leave in the stiff horizontal position. Send the geezers packing while still breathing and in with the younger, more conservative bloods.

Right or wrong, Cheney is his own man. He’s a career politician who’s made speaking his mind his trademark. I don’t think it was the lamestream media at all, I think it was his real opinion, which I disagree with, but still his own.

I think it’s interesting that most everyone here loved Cheney until he said something they disagreed with. His opinion of Mrs Palin seems to have more of you upset than his views on homo-marriage.

Dick was a DC insider since the 70’s. His entire career was made in Washington. I’ve lost all respect for Dick. He needs to shut up and go away, it’s our turn now.

The media has destroyed Palin’s image, just as they did with Dan Quayle and so many others.

Exactly. But it pains me to know that Cheney, whom I once admired greatly, follows their lead.

V.P. Cheney is a bit of a misogynist and definitely leans to the “men only” clubs. Otherwise, Mr. Cheney is a patriot. Ms Palin is a favorite....she energizes the moderates and conservatives and that is grand in its self!

At first, I thought Sarah should blow off the Cheney remark, since the media clearly wanted to see a fight between the two. But on seeing her last night, I’m glad she strongly stood up against this crap. I like Cheney, but he’s wrong on homo marriage, and he’s wrong here. McCain’s loss would have been even bigger if she hadn’t been his running mate. Also, Cheney should bear in mind that it wasn’t Sarah who went around saying it would be okay to vote for Obama.

Cheney is caught up in the idea that one needs twenty five years of experience to run for VP. That kind of thinking doesn’t wash any longer. Some of the most experienced politicians in Washington are also the most corrupt. We’ll take constitutional clarity and conservative principles instead.

That Cheney quote and his opinion of her not ready are exactly what set off this storm here. And it is a mistake on Dick Cheney's part.

I didn't choose the word ‘angry’, it was the title from Josh Feldman (Mediaite). And let each one decide on his/her own.

Hey LLS,

13% Who is Cheney to lecture anyone about “experience”
when picking a VP? All his “experience” in DC earned himself
a 13% approval. So much for “experience”.

>>> ... that acceptance speech in ‘08, it was clear we had a media mega-star ....

Because up to that point, we have fake ‘conservatives’ like Frum, Brooks, and Noonan playing the role on paper/tv talk shows.

Palin showed how one think, talk (i.e. fight), and live a conservative life.

So he characterized me as being a mistake.”

Sarah, you are the best thing to hit American politics since Ronald Reagan.

You will never be a "mistake".

Cheney could have used so many other words--like miscalculation;misjudgment;error;--but he chose to say "mistake"--a word which the haters loved to use about Trig.

Shame on you, Mr. Cheney. You gave ammunition needlessly to the other side for no gain. Very foolish.

Don’t expect any rational perspectives on a Sarah thread. Outrage and indigence are the order of the day . . . even though Sarah herself did appear to be terribly offended or upset by Cheney’s mild evaluation of the 2008 election.

If she did, then she doesn’t have the class necessary to be President of the United States. Cheney respectfully referred to her as “Governor Palin.” If she is petty and classless enough to fire an ad hominem, then she isn’t who I believe her to be. Let’s hope she didn’t mean anything by it beyond a simple informality.

Cheney doesn't misfire, and yet he did. That was no error.

Did you expect it to come up roses with Gov. Palin on the receiving end?

Gov. Palin doesn't misfire either, and yet she temporarily omitted Cheney's title. That was no error either.

I would re-phrase your statement: anyone willing to be used as a punching bag does not have the strength of character to be President.

I was a true believer in Bush and Cheney... now I see them as being as much of the problem as harry reid or nancy pelosi. If they had only defended themselves and by proxy us. If only they hadn't compromised and if they hadn't grown the government so much... if only they had blocked TARP. They do not think like us because they are not one of us. They are the elite.

No. There's no excuse for low class behavior. Cheney's comment was as mild and accurate a criticism as I have ever heard. Factually accurate and respectful of her former office. If she can contain her desire to snap back, then she lacks the class to hold federal office as a Conservative or as a Republican.

Being polite doesn't mean being weak, it means being polite--following the rules of social etiquette.

You want to elect thugs, count me out. I want people with at least the minimum of social graces.
