George Millers 1981 post-apocalyptic film The Road Warrior envisioned an impoverished world of the future. Tribal groups fought over what remained of a destroyed Western world of law, technology, and mass production. Survival went to the fittest or at least those who could best scrounge together the artifacts of a long gone society somewhat resembling the present West.
In the case of the Australian film, the culprit for the detribalization of the Outback was some sort of global war or perhaps nuclear holocaust that had destroyed the social fabric. Survivors were left with a memory of modern appetites but without the ability to reproduce the means to satisfy them: in short, a sort of Procopiuss description of Gothic Italy circa AD 540.

When one is a libtard, being isolated from reality is part of the nature of their worldview. They are so delusional that anything that disagrees with their agenda is considered to be an extreme hypothesis.
Back in the 1960’s California was still a wonderful place to live.
The land is still there, the ocean, mountains and desert are still there.
But the leftist idiots have destroyed the culture and the political/social environment that led to it’s growth, wealth and livability.
It is a very good article. I love reading Victor Davis Hansen.
What he is documenting is what I call “the loss of competence.” I believe what made America exceptional was not that we were such exceptional people, we were exceptional because we were, collectively, all competent. I guess that’s kind of an abnormality in the world. But wherever I go, I now deal with incompetence, and an attitude of not caring whether they are competent or not.
Think about how refreshing and uplifting it is now to deal with someone who actually knows what they are doing. And how rare it is.
Unemployment stays over 10% and in the Central Valley is more like 15%. Seven out of the last eleven new Californians went on Medicaid, which is about broke. A third of the nations welfare recipients are in California. In many areas, 40% of Central Valley high school students do not graduate and do not work, if the latest crisis in finding $10 an hour agricultural workers is any indication. And so on.
Third world.
LOL.
his plan was brilliant.
The malignant cancer has spread rapidly from the southern border to the middle of California state. In time, the entire state will be over-run.
You folks in the USA, not in the People’s Republic of Kalifornia, think you can escape this fate, but the artificial state line around California will not contain this cancer. If you don’t fire up your chemotherapy and fast, you can expect that this cancer will invade your states as well.
I am blessed to be able to say I was among the last generations of free Americans and I grieve tears of blood for future generations of oppressed Americans. We completely let down our grandchildren and great-grandchildren, selling them into tyranny.
Couple more great quotes.
When I see hordes of Highway Patrolmen writing tickets in a way they did not before 2008, I assume that these are revenue-based, not safety-based, protocols
if I happen to hear Barack Obama on the news or read the latest communiqué from Jerry Brown, the world they pontificate about in no way resembles the world I see: not the freeways, not the medical system, not the educational establishment, not law enforcement, not the diversity, not anything.
