There was no Romney gaffe in Israel
Washington Post ^ | Marc A. Thiessen,

The media is accusing Mitt Romney of having committed another “gaffe” abroad — this time when he suggested that cultural differences help explain why the Israelis are so much more economically successful than Palestinians.

One small problem with that: What Romney said was not a gaffe. He was absolutely right.

In reporting the so-called gaffe, the New York Times explained that Romney simply does not understand that the Palestinians’ economic problems are all Israel’s fault: “The Palestinians have long complained that their economy is in a chokehold from Israeli security measures,” the Times declared, adding “The West Bank is subject to trade restrictions imposed by the Israelis, while Gaza was subject to a near-total Israeli blockade on people and goods after Hamas took control of its government five years ago. Mr. Romney mentioned neither during his speech on Monday.”

Yeah, it had nothing to do with Arafat keeping them poor, uneducated, and living in rubble for the imagery.

This has become a popular tactic of the militant left. Well, now it's becoming a tactic of the left in general.

If your opponent doesn't live up to the vilification you've heaped on him, just make something up out of thin air and accuse him of it.

This accomplishes a couple of things that are good for the left: (1) it sticks in the mind of your more rabid followers - also known as your "base" - and keeps them motivated, and (2) it demoralizes and discourages your opponents to realize that anyone would even try to get away with such a horrid lie.

It's basically a way of keeping your "useful idiots" on board and stoked up.

Since the right doesn't have "useful idiots," this tactic does our side no good at all.

Of course, you can only get away with it if the major media are completely on your side. If you don't own the MSM, the tactic makes you look like a laughing stock. If you do own the MSM, you get what we now have.

“The Arabs never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.” - Abba Eban

It goes double for the Palestinians.

But of course everything is Israel’s fault. Just ask the NY Times.

...what Mitt Romney said in Israel was not a gaffe. It was the truth.

Nice this appeared in the Washington Post... Does that mean there's hope?

Thanks SJackson.

Meanwhile, Pelosi tells Jews in America that they’re gullible and greedy, and should therefore vote Democrat — the party of gullibility and greed.
