Orange County-Long Beach-Los Angeles ranked second out of 372 U.S. metropolitan areas for year-over-year job growth in June, reports the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Orange County alone accounted for 31,500 of the jobs created over the last 12 months.

California leads in manufacturing job openings
California has 1.2 million people working in manufacturing — by far the most in the country — and also leads the nation in openings for new jobs, reports AmericanMFGjobs.com.
Perhaps even more important, notes the manufacturing job search engine, California’s manufacturing jobs are some of the highest paid in the nation — $84,743 a year.

Actually here in North Orange County CA you would be hard pressed to notice that we are in a recession. The Brea Mall is generally very, very busy, ditto the restaurants and there are very few retail stores that are vacant. And the traffic on the 57 FWY is worse than ever - people going shopping, people going to work, trucks, trucks, trucks hauling whatever. And even housing prices have held up better than average.
I guess if you have to live in JerryBrownLand there are worse place than North Orange County.

Seems to me, those impacted the most in CA, are state and some local governments and justifiable so, due to their own reckless out of control payrolls, spending and budgets.
Not about jobs, but all summer I’ve been house hunting in south la county, north orange county along the coast. Inventory has been extremely low. Great homes go in 1 week. And prices are high.

Of course if it would have been just the opposite, showing a decline in job growth, the thread this would have had 300 comments...
I’m not responding to the news because it is not what I want to hear, I’m just trying to put it in perspective.
California’s unemployment rate was 10.7 percent in June, compared to the national unemployment rate of 8.2 percent. California did improve from the prior month by 0.1 percent.

In actual numbers, unemployment stood at 1,973,825.
Parts of California are producing a lot of jobs, Silicon Valley and Orange County/LA, for example. But, this is offset by continued economic pain in the rest of the state.

I agree that California still has a lot of dynamic sectors. They still get the lion’s share of venture capital, which is their strongest suit, I think.
Riverside is expanding is warehousing capability. To the extent the nation recovers, Long Beach will make a big turnaround as the point of departure and arrival — and so will Riverside/San Bernadino as a distribution center for transport inland and to ports.
The Central Valley, however, is an enormous bust, mostly through idiotic policies of environmentalists at the state and federal levels, combine with a raft of anti-business policies by the state. The middle class has been decimated there. People on the coast have little idea how down and out life has gotten in the Central Valley.
Fresno has 15.3 percent. Down in the southeast, Imperial County has 28.2 percent unemployment. By contrast, Marin County has 6.6 percent, Orange County’s rate stands at 7.7 percent.
On the flip side, outlying places like El Centro and a few others have imploded.
It was good to see manufacturing growth in LA since that employs a lot of people, especially in apparel.
Well, one can imagine what it could be with real genuine leaders and smaller, less controlling punitive government.
California would lead America and the world in economic vitality if it weren’t run by a bunch of leftists and controlled by public sector unions — which are one and the same.
Well, my point is, California is already America's economic powerhouse, and in the top ten economic heavyweights on the planet. No state comes close.
But one could imagine what it could be with smaller, legitimate, less controlling, less corrupt government, where government labor unions were dissolved.
What needs to be done.
1. Dissolve all state government labor unions immediately!
2. Substantially reduce salaries, wages and benefits across the board and this includes those already retired.
3. Audit the entire state government all they way down to the overpaid formally unionized janitors.
4. After the audit, prosecute the corrupt and terminate every single person who caused and was responsible for reckless spending and corrupt budgets. This alone will eliminate thousands.
5. Those found responsible for reckless mismanagement and criminal activity will forfeit their government retirement pensions and be prosecuted if the evidence supports it.
I am talking Nuremberg type trials and hearings, for these corrupt government criminals.
Same thing needs to happen in Congress at the national level.

I like the way you think. I always though we needed to have Nuremberg style trials in the U.S. after the fall of Communism to bring to justice all the Americans who committed treason in service to the Soviet Union — plus anyone who embraced Communism or Marxim in any form.
I believe in the notion that certain ideas are in themselves totalitarian and to the extent they are embraced, they lead to tyranny. Marxism and socialism are such ideas. Those who advocate them, whether they admit it or not, are traitors already in their hearts and should not be allowed to hold positions of resopnsibility in our American institutions. Should not be allowed to hold public office. Should not be allowed to teach in our universities and schools. Should not be allowed to be judgets. They should be exposed and driven out of the entertainment industry. Etc., etc., etc.
We needed then and today an old-fashioned Commie witch-hunt.
