Chick-fil-A’s owner, Dan Cathy, has been excoriated recently for pronouncing Christian principles and fearing God’s judgment. When asked about his traditional take on families, Mr. Cathy acknowledged, “Well, guilty as charged.”
“We are very much supportive of the family — the biblical definition of the family unit.” Cathy continued, “We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that.”
A firestorm ignited. Media outlets nationwide translated this benign statement into portraying Cathy as some raving bigot intent on persecuting anyone with whom he disagrees. The outcry prompted the following post on Chick-fil-A’s website:
“The Chick-fil-A culture and service tradition in our Restaurants is to treat every person with honor, dignity and respect –regardless of their belief, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender. . . our intent is to leave the policy debate over same-sex marriage to the government and political arena.”
For such screed, a la President Obama’s official outlook until May, major newspapers labeled Cathy’s pro-family stance as “anti-gay.” A chorus of celebrities chimed in spewing vitriol for Cathy and his brand. Politicians from California to Boston and now New York have hinted that Chick-fil-A’s operations may be hindered.
Boston Mayor Thomas Menino insinuated that he would actively work against Chick-fil-A to promote “Tolerance.” Chicago Alderman Joe Moreno threatened to thwart a new restaurant from opening. Mayor Rahm Emanuel, touting “Respect,” echoed, “Chick-fil-A’s values are not Chicago values.”
Chicago’s government-centered political values are favoritism, patronage and corruption. Emanuel is correct. Chick-fil-A serves customers, hires employees, pays vendors and yes, taxes too. It has little commonality with a crooked political machine geared toward cronyism.

Doesn’t seem fair to say the guy was making PRONOUNCEMENTS. He was interviewed in a small Christian magazine. The democrat press are the ones who gave him a national forum about it.
Maybe I’m wrong about this but that’s how I understand it.
The democrat press gave him national exposure and then ONLY BECAUSE THEY THOUGHT IT WOULD KILL his business.

1) Gave CFA an extra multi million dollar profit.
2) Hurt the radical homo cause.

Right - the rainbow libs jumped on this, thought they could use it to catapult themselves into the spotlight - and it backfired. Man, did it ever backfire. And they deserved it - was a long time coming. Way over due.

Also, J.C. Penny has lost more than 50% of its stock value, by allowing their marketing people to promote homosexuality. Maybe the average American is finally fighting back.

The "outrage" over Cathy's remarks is phony, of course, and its instructive to see it pumped up by the pavlovian press organs. They take their queues from their masters.
No normal person is opposed to anything Cathy said. Marriage is what it is and has always been. To come out in favor of it is like coming out in favor of apple pie. Who doesn't like pie? What decent normal person doesn't understand what marriage is?
The surprise is the fact that the immoralists have taken control of an entire political party and no one in that party seems willing to speak up for the utter normality that is traditional marriage. Would a party that hopes to be elected really declare itself opposed to decency? Really? And half the country either agrees or fears to be out of step with their party, even when that party has clearly lost its collective mind?
You make a very good point toward the end, when you state that we have tried to be Switzerland for too long. We are tolerant, we are kind even to people we disagree with, and that kindness and tolerance has been used to force us back on our heels. We have to be willing to speak up clearly and call perversity for what it is. We all sin; but we must no longer allow ourselves to be bullied into silence on this issue.
The left consistently overplays its hand on this issue. They simply cannot believe anyone could hold a view different from theirs.
Again, we understand them perfectly, they haven’t got a clue about us.

It's funny, I've used the Switzerland and Belgium analogy many times in speaking engagements but realized it's never actually appeared in an article.
Big miss on my part.
We think as Christians, patriots, conservatives/libertarians that we can just mind our own business and be left alone, but when the media, education establishment, Hollywood et al skew very far left. While we're kidding ourselves, they are coming for our children's hearts, souls and minds.
The choice isn't to be Swiss and sit this out. The choice is defending our faith and culture or being Belgium and being overrun.

The importance of the family surpasses the self esteem of attention whoring perverts.
I can not imagine how liberals think they can get away with social engineering marriage and family into the gutter. They tell each other so many lies and then expect that everyone should be forced to not only repeat those lies but live by them.

You are right. They are coming for the hearts of our children, but it is all children. On the GLAD website they have a story about their summer camps for Gays, Transgender, and Gender Variant youth (whatever that means). It is sick and twisted. They hope for the time when their youth can chose between their camps and regular ones. They can do that now. It they go to regular camps they won’t be indoctrinated. Conservatives see camps as a place for fun, whereas the Left sees them as places for fun and indoctrination. Ick!
