I support free speech for all - even lefties. Was hostile and not properly done but don’t feel someone should be fired to expressing political views unless there’s some other interest at stake.
You?
I imagine his company was embarassed by one of their executives acting in such a manner in public, then posting the video on YouTube. To me he was salting the wound by gloating on YouTube.
Read the press release from the company and see if you don't agree with their position:
We respect the right of our employees and all Americans to hold and express their personal opinions, however, we also expect our company officers to behave in a manner commensurate with their position and in a respectful fashion that conveys these values of civility with others.
>>Was hostile and not properly done but dont feel someone should be fired to expressing political views unless theres some other interest at stake.<<
He was fired for posting it on YouTube. THAT made it look REALLY bad.
It wasn’t his views, it was his bullying of some teen worker at a drive thru window. She even said, “This is making me very uncomfortable.” He then asked her how she could sleep at night! He harassed her when it wasn’t even her fault then proudly posted it for the world to see.
This jerk isn’t being punished by the govt, so “Free Speach” is not at play. Also, what about the company’s rights? Don’t they have the right to choose who works for them? And to fire people who create what was likely a pending PR nightmare for them?
REALLY??????? He was a RUDE BULLY and was an EMBARASSMENT to his company and the college. If they DIDN’T fire him they would be negligent.
“....dont feel someone should be fired to expressing political views....”

Sorry, that wasn’t why he was fired. He was fired for bullying and intimidating a young lady who was just trying to do her job professionally.
This prompt and correct action reflects credit on his former employer in my opinion.
He wasn’t expressing a political view.
He was being an asshole to an innocent young lady.
Indeed. People who fear losing their jobs for speaking out.. Oh wait, that already IS the case today. However, there surely MUST be more to this story. He wasn’t even at his own job when this occurred. Big deal. Gotta be something more here.
Caused potential harm to employer. His actions could affect the sales of his employer. If this clown is representative of a Vante employee, I would not do business with them. Read the fine print of your employment agreement.
This is not a free speech matter. The right to free speech under the Constitution applies only to government action. There is no right to free speech whatsoever in the private sector.
my guess is that this wasn’t the only reason he was sacked. He was an ignorant jerk, but if he was a very good employee, they could have overlooked it and have him issue an apology.
It was at lunchtime -- company time -- on a weekday.
Never seen a more thoroughly satisfying fisking.
Many execs have morals & ethics clauses in their contracts. They can be fired for unethical behaviors arising from any time. I once had a contract that required I dress appropriately at all times, never to be seen as a bum or unshaven. That sucked. I’ll never sign one of those again.
Except in this case, he chose to advertise the act and had his employer and title attached. He's an officer of the company, he should have known better. The company did the right thing.
Dollars and sense-- He was not just freely voicing opinion, but was above all abusive to someone of subordinate status. It's repugnant and unforgivable. Because he was outed as a CFO of the operation-- a highly responsible figure who reflected very negatively on his employer, not terminating him would have been a form of endorsement and irresponsibility at a public level. Vante would have suffered by standing behind this POS.
It's a practical calculation by the co and not an especially difficult one. A medical device mfgr is held to a pretty high std in terms of ethics and this would have doomed them in what is a highly competitive and scrutinized industry. Integrity and reputation is everything. They did the right thing.
I’d fire you for not firing that manipulating bully on the spot.
Um, like the reputation of the company, maybe?
Is this an example of “free speech” protected by the First Amendment? Even bad ideas may be expressed legally. But there is more than just a bad idea the man’s video.
He may well have violated several laws and statutes when he entered someone else’s property to berate and bully a young employee who did him no harm (she deserves a medal for her patience and poise). His employers certainly have the right to question his good judgment and his suitability for employment. I would pity the poor students that would have him as an instructor in their finance classes.
Uh, there was... What a horrible reflection on the company, Vante, to have it's CFO making a jackass out himself by publicly supporting the militant faggot agenda. The company acted properly to protect its own self interests.
