Obama, in particular, likes to be seen visiting troops and photos taken with members of our military. So, why is his campaign and the Democrat party suing to restrict their ability to vote in the upcoming election?

>Their suit said that part of the law is “arbitrary” with “no discernible rational basis.”<

Common Libspeak for “we don't like the law” and don't care what the people, through their elected reps voted for.

If they can vote anytime up until the election why do they need until 3 days after anyway?

Recall Florida 2000.

Six Reserve units were called to active duty -- out-of-state and out-of-country -- on short notice the week before the election.

The notice was sent after early voting had ceased. And they were shipped out before Tuesday. Thus, the personnel were unable to exercise their constitutional right to vote.

The Gore campaign knew that Florida was going to be razor-close -- and the key to the election. And the Clinton administration bent heaven and earth to cheat out a victory for Gore.

Had Florida had a 3-day window like Ohio's, those reservists could've voted.

So, Ohio can count on some reserve units being called up....if they can get that 3-day window closed.

There is no depth to which the Democrat party will not willingly sink.

If an "ordinary" citizen can vote in that way up until "X" why can't members of the Armed Forces...who have endured, and *are* enduring,so much suffering in the last 10 years...vote until "X + 3"????????

I was deployed to Iraq in the fall of 2004 but before leaving I requested an absentee ballot and I am still waiting for it. After getting to Iraq my absentee ballot was the last thing on my mind.

Because allowing voting after the election is prone to democrat criminal activity. The Ohio laws says it allows early voting, just how early the article doesn’t say, but if the period is long enough to accomodate solders abroad what problem do you see with it?

1. I am not surprised.

2. I can imagine.

Thank you for your service. You have my family's everlasting gratitude.

Nobody can vote anytime up until election day.

From the article:

Currently, Ohio allows the public to vote early in-person up until the Friday before the election. Members of the military three extra days to do so.
The Obama campaign is objecting to the three extra days before the election during which the military, but not other voters, can cast an early ballot.

Ahh....I take it you haven’t experienced the occasional, and frequently unexpected, vagaries of military service.

Watch for when the military absentee ballots fail to get anywhere on time.

I see I had it wrong. In my state people can vote early weeks before an election so this isn’t an issue.

Because of mail-in ballots. The military mail system (from war zones) can take an erratic amount of time. They were trying to give our guys a chance to get their ballots in.

In the last election, my husband requested his ballot 6 weeks out. He got it just a couple of days before the election. No idea if his vote counted or not.

And yes. He was seriously p*ssed.
