The man who served as the deputy director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives during Operation Fast and Furious resigned on Tuesday, an agency spokesman told The Associated Press on Thursday.
William Hoover was one of the five ATF officials House oversight committee chairman Darrell Issa and Iowa Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley singled out as responsible for Operation Fast and Furious. ATF spokesman Drew Wade told the AP that Hoover resigned on Tuesday the day Issa and Grassley released the congressional report in which they singled out Hoover and four of his colleagues.
Wade did not immediately responded to a request from The Daily Caller seeking confirmation that the GOP lawmakers report prompted Hoovers resignation, and did not answer whether or not resignations are in the works for the other four officials.
The other four ATF officials Issa and Grassley blamed Fast and Furious on in this report are:
William Newell, the special agent in charge of the phoenix field division William McMahon, Newells boss who was ATFs deputy assistant director for field operations Mark Chait, McMahons boss who was ATFs assistant director for field operations Kenneth Melson, former acting ATF director
Since Fast and Furious broke out as a major national scandal, all five of those ATF leaders have since been reassigned within ATF and the Justice Department.

The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Great. Now send him a Congressional subpoena and put his ass under oath. Mention the name “Oliver North” while you do it.
He’s not in jail yet. 5 to go.
Correction. More than 4 resignations area called for here.
Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Bring forth your guilty!
The wheels on the bus go ‘round and ‘round....
Time for some Mexican arrest warrants. I’m sure that can be arranged, if it has been already. These guys need to be given a reason to TALK.
Is this helpful for getting to the big fish? I assume (?) that putting pressure on these guys will help them to tell what they know?
Hundreds were murdered with guns provided by the ATF and the worst that happens to the people responsible is they lose their jobs?
BTW, you know that some liberal company or organization already has a position for him.
It’s not enough.
These people need to be brought up on charges. Hundreds of people have died including two US officers on account of this jack-assery attempt that was going to be used to gut the Second Amendment by Obama and Holder.
I say one down six to go. That includes Holder and Obama.
There will be a LOT more than 5. Trust me on this.
Guaranteed they have been promised presidential pardons/immunity/favors in order to keep the fire away from Holder and Obama so it will take a special kind of pressure to make them talk. that being said, it might be interesting to force Obama to pardon them while we continue to demand the documents that Holder has probably already destroyed.
So... when may we expect Holder’s resignation?
Let’s be clear. No one would just resign being linked to this. Money and or benefits have exchanged hands-guaranteed.
They're hoping ya don't notice.
Criminal charges and they should be forced to forfeit their fat government pensions.
In observing Mexico’s love of Obama and faint complaint at Fast and Furious; and given I think it was an anti-second amendment plot which Mexico seriously desires, I am beginning to think Mexican officials were in on the operation.
If the Mexican government directly murdered a bunch of Americans on purpose like our DOJ did to Mexico, it would be a big deal. But not in Mexico? Something stinks to high heaven.
Plus Holder and his boss.
Overseeing an illegal gun running operation to Mexican drug cartels that resulted in a border agent's death as well as numerous deaths on injuries in Mexico must not constitute a firing offense in the Obama Administration.
