Constitutional conservatives must do it themselves, using the GOP apparatus as just one tool.

There are many who realized this fact a LONG time ago and acted accordingly. We are just beginning to see the fruits of their labor.

I, for the most part, agree with what you have written here. The shell of lies that comprises what we refer to as “the left” is about to collapse and when that happens the death roars will be deafening!

The media is 100% of the problem.

I disagree! The problem is those who cannot figure out what the purpose of the media is and thus apply the correct filters.

And we have that because of what we have allowed to occur in the halls of academia! THAT is the problem!

“Unfortunately, they could never have achieved such leadership positions in the Democrat Party if a large and growing segment of the American population did agree and identify with them.

Remember, the problem is not Obama. The problem is the people who voted for Obama.”

Yes and meanwhile the left continues to pad their numbers with the non enforcement of immigration law. Time is growing short for this strategy to be successful.

I think the left is ahead on points. I realize tons of people despise this administration and a big GOP Presidential and Congressional win this fall wouldn't surprise me in the least, but that doesn't a trend make. Plus, look what the "victory" would consist of, Romney!

The author, I think, would point toward damming up here. Romney will/would do that because he will/would be compelled to by Constitutionalist factions and the will of those who elected him. Will he roll back years of progressivism? No. Look here:

The left co-opted the education system, the judicial system, the bureaucracy, the press, and the arts.

They are so entrenched it will be impossible to root them and their sickness out. I agree with the author that they will have to self-destruct. And it won't be pretty.

They are counting on enough self-described ‘conservatives’ to compromise their principles,
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

There are also well-meaning but very stupid conservatives.

For example:

Nearly every day, here on Free Republic, there are stupid conservatives who **insist** that their child's godless and socialist-entitlement K-12 school is “different”.

Every day here on Free Republic there are conservatives who can NOT understand that government K-12 schooling is a godless socialist entitlement. They continually cling the the idea that somehow this godless socialist-entitlement can be reformed if only we could go back to some magical era in government schooling.

Government schooling isn't the only issue. There are other issues in which conservatives are very stupid.

“The left co-opted the education system,”

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

The above is an example of **STUPID** conservatism. It drive me to exasperation!

The education system K-12 and state universities have ***ALWAYS** been a socialist-entitlement!!! These institutions are the very definition of socialism! They weren't *co-opted”.

Tuition-free K-12 schooling and state subsidized colleges were are a **PROGESSIVE** idea from the beginning. Progressives have always controlled teacher training and curriculum development. The goal of the progressives was **always** toward increasing secularism and godlessness.

Geeze! Children and young adults who attend our nation's socialist-entitlement schools and colleges risk learning to be comfortable with socialism. They learn that any voting mob powerful enough to give them tuition-free schooling or subsidized college is powerful enough to give them **LOTS** of “free” stuff!

And...They **WILL** learn to think and reason godlessly. They must just to cooperate in the godless classroom.

The media covers for them. The media is 50% of the problem.
The media is 100% of the problem.

Evil is not a problem - you find it, you destroy it. It's inherently weak - that's why it hides.

LYING about evil, however - now THAT'S a problem!

Yes. And another part of the problem is the mislabeling of “the media.” The problem isn’t the medium used, whether print or broadcast - the problem is the nature of journalism as we know it. The nature, that is, of the wire service.

In the founding era, newspapers were mostly weeklies, and some newspapers had no deadline at all, and just went to press when the printer was good and ready. They had no communication technology which was not accessible to the public at large, and by the time the newspaper came out on Wednesday (say) you might very well already know any news which reached the printer shortly after press time the previous Tuesday night. From the same sources the printer had. Consequently, newspapers were as much about the printer’s take on the news as they were about the news itself. IOW, newspaper printers were more like today’s talk radio hosts than like today’s “objective” journalists.

But with the wire services (and a single one, the AP, has always dominated by its own monopolistic design), journalism became homogenized. All major outlets have the same information feed, and the reporters working for the individual members of the AP aspire to have their stories picked up by other outlets nationwide. They conform their formats and their slant on their stories to the Associated Press template. And since the individual editors don’t even know, much less supervise, reporters who contribute stories to their papers via the newswire, the whole operation of wire service journalism hinges on the shared assumptions of its membership.

It is a cult.

Like all cults, it conflates its own interest with the public good. The cult of “objective” wire service journalism places the promotion of the interests intrinsic to journalism - the desire for attention, prosperity, and influence - above the interests of individual people and against the cumulative interests of people generally.

The cult of wire service journalism requires that the public assume that its priests are objective, so its membership promotes that absurd proposition incessantly. To claim objectivity - even to belong to a group which claims objectivity for you - is to foreclose the very possibility of seriously attempting to be objective. Because belief in your own objectivity is the defining characteristic of its opposite, subjectivity. No one can do the real work of attempting objectivity - no one can openly lay out the reasons why he or she might not be objective - and simultaneously claim that they actually are objective.

The cult of “objective” journalism places bad news - places criticism, condemnation, and complaint - on a plane far above getting your hands dirty by actually trying to do something. "The man who is actually in the arena” gets no respect from the cult of criticism, condemnation, and complaint.

The cult of “objective” journalism places novelty far above accuracy. Consequently “There’s nothing more worthless than yesterday’s Newspaper.” The cult of superficial attention-grabbing defines a big story as always “Man Bites Dog,” not “Dog Bites Man.”

The cult of “objective” journalism flatters anyone who promotes journalism’s ego, and heaps derision on anyone who openly considers other principles and constituencies to be more important than the cult of journalism. “Objective” journalism flatters its acolytes by calling them “liberal” or “progressive” - and derides its skeptics with terms like “conservative” and “right wing extremists.” And, during the Soviet era, “Cold Warriors.”

There is no objectivity in “objective” journalism. “Objective journalism” is a propaganda cult. One which successfully cons a very great number of Americans. Most of us have fallen for the con, at least some of the time . . .
The wisest and most cautious of us all frequently gives credit to stories which he himself is afterwards both ashamed and astonished that he could possibly think of believing . . .

It is acquired wisdom and experience only that teach incredulity,
and they very seldom teach it enough.

The Democrats became commies with Obama, and the Republicans became Democrats.

The list of Democrats that joined the socialist groups was published on the FreeRepublic during the Clinton years. The change of the Democrat party came years earlier. I wish you and so many more freepers were paying attention then. I hear people say they wish they had Clinton back. Clinton is a Globalist Fascist just like Obama. Clinton was giving China technology for their military. It was then we had to stop the Democrats. It was too late when Obama became President. With the debt, we have now reached the point of no return.

From the article:

Despite all of Barack Obama's hoopla about "fundamentally transforming" America, the truth of the matter is even scarier than Obama's threatening promise: the fundamental transformation has, to a large extent, already happened. Contemporary society has been gradually undermined, in the strict sense of having had its terrain booby-trapped with moral explosives, over many decades. Obama's promised transformation is merely the paperwork, writing into law what has already been accomplished in culture.

This is VERY true and unfortunately there are very few who have done the hard work necessary to fully understand when the "transformation" began and how it was done which makes accomplishing the end result we seek to achieve all that much more difficult.

Although he did not intend it specifically as such, this brilliant article by Daren Jonescu is an inspiring morale booster for current members of the Tea Party and a spectacular recruiting document for new members. I've rarely come across such clear insight explaining the spontaneous founding and righteous (dare I say divinely inspired) purpose of the Tea Party. This is a very remarkable essay that all conservatives should read.

Contemporary society has been gradually undermined, in the strict sense of having had its terrain booby-trapped with moral explosives, over many decades. Obama's promised transformation is merely the paperwork, writing into law what has already been accomplished in culture.

The entire Democratic Party, from the top down, now looks like Bill Ayers and Jeremiah Wright. The hatred of America is open. The desire to undo American constitutionalism is explicit. And this exposure will only accelerate in the coming months and years, as the left realizes ever more acutely that its days as an accepted political faction are numbered, and it is forced to take increasingly drastic and sudden measures to achieve its brutal aims before the clock runs out.

The days lying ahead of America will often be treacherous and sad. They will require nerves of steel from those who would resist progressivism's desperate last stand. It has become patently clear that the present Republican Party establishment is not up for this fight. Constitutional conservatives must do it themselves, using the GOP apparatus as just one tool. They must remain cool and workmanlike, rebuilding dams faster than the leftist waves can knock them down.

long read, but a good analysis of the epic battle of 'good vs evil' that is and has been our political landscape for a century...

and why the ramping up of the aggression from the left has been happenin...pedal to the metal, as it were, because theyve passed the jump off point...its simply going to have to crash and burn, and itll be up to the survivors to re-instate the Constitutional principles...my .02

overplay their hand and self-destruct. They always do, this is the third time, Wilson then FDR and now Obama. To me this time feels like it’s for all the marbles, of course I was not present for the first two. This time we are facing a revolutionary Marxist communist and many years of preparation by those of like mind. If you don’t identify Romney as one of those of like mind, are you certain you are capable of walking and breathing at the same time? Can we at least hang the obvious commies this time? “the left realizes...it’s days are numbered...forced to take increasingly drastic and sudden measures to achieve its brutal aims before the clock runs out”

Examples of this ... the left creating crises that they have to solve (such as financial collapse), obama’s czars, obama saying Congress has not acted so he will, obama’s executive orders, passage of nearly 2,000 pages of ocare citizen control (attempting to deem it passed), nationwide unemployment, a bankrupt nation, and so on.

They do realize their days are short and they are pulling out all the stops to force their evil on us.

And with continued cooperation from the LSM, Spain, soros, third party candidates, and phonied up polls that keep it close enough to steal, I fear massive election fraud on a scale never before seen - then more of the same transforming of America on a much larger scale.

May God have mercy on us.

...the Left: arbitrary, dictatorial, and very much the mark of a new aristocracy taking place under the Divine Right Of Party. That is a relic of the past.

Yes. The Constitution is the manifesto of our national revolution. It is a revolutionary document that damns the aristocracy as the opressor of the people.

Government, especially our federal government, has embellished itself with the mantle of despotism. As such it has become the enemy of the revolution, of the Constitution.

There is a constituency willing to trade personal dignity for the government feeding trough. Their stake in government is as consumers of the swill ladled by their masters.

It is not the purpose of the aristocracy to satisfy the needs of its abject supporters. Rather, they provide just enough to create hunger for more of their swill. This cattle constituency will stampede to be fed.

I could go on but you get the point.

And how do we wake up “the voters”?

There is a segment of the electorate that is solidly behind Obama and his socialist agenda. I don’t think they can ever be woken up. Honestly, the best we can hope for is that some of them become demoralized and stay home.

For those who can be reached, is a coherent conservative message enough? Even if we could bring another Reagan to the table, would it stop the demographic math that seems to point towards a future filled with defeat after defeat for conservative candidates?

If the only available answer is the self destruction of the left, then how do conservatives help them along? Is the game merely to hold on until that hopefully happens, or are there things we can do to provoke the enemy into making the mistakes that have to happen for the grip they have on the entitled class to be broken?

Well, it seems to me, if one believes the socialist-left need to self-destruct to begone, then likely they, their programs and ideas and constituents will have to utterly collapse in ruin.

As has been said, it will be a hideous mess.

No one is contemplating surrender it should be mentioned; that isn't that issue. Far from it, individual conservative victories are important and will lay the groundwork for ultimate triumph--the renewal.

Ha...your observation indirectly says a lot about the Left...and given my first hand experience with leftist demonstrators confirms that entirely.

One of the most satisfying and encouraging things I perceived when engaging in demonstrations was the glaring difference between left and right encompassing neatness, consideration for public and private property, civility and politeness.

There is a huge gulf there, and we are on the correct (right) side. It just validates the inherent superiority at a basic level without even analyzing the specifics.

Chick-Fil-A is a finger testing the temperature of water of public sentiment, not the tool to directly combat leftists.

I readily admit that I am conflicted about using leftist tactics. I have always been a believer that when engaging in a fight with someone who is known to use dirty tactics, using those same tactics is fair, but using the tactics of the left seems to invoke a struggle at the very core of my principles.

“Constitutional conservatives must do it themselves,”

What I fear is that many on the “Conservative” side will make the mistake of ignoring the Constitution to get what they perceive as the “right” way. If we don’t follow the Constitution we are doomed to fail and will give the victory to the left’s “progressives” by making it easier to sell their pablum. If I was running things the first thing I would do to prove my bona fides would be to repeal the Patriot Act, which has become a war against the American People. If it isn’t Constitutional it is wrong. I don’t care what the robed ones say.
A tyrant whether, Conservative, Liberal, Christian or Atheist is still a tyrant and should be put down.
