Reid Statement On July Jobs Report
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid ^ | August 3, 2012 | Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid

Posted on 08/03/2012 3:27:07 PM PDT by mdittmar

Washington, DC–Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid released the following statement after the Department of Labor announced its employment report for the month of July. The U.S. economy added 163,000 jobs in July, including 172,000 private sector jobs and 25,000 manufacturing jobs

“In Nevada and across America there are still far too many Americans looking for work. But we have now seen 27 straight months of private sector job growth, along with encouraging progress in critical sectors such as manufacturing. Our economy is recovering, but recovering slowly.

“The main obstacle standing in the way of a stronger economic recovery is the unprecedented, politically-motivated obstruction from Republicans in Congress. My counterpart, Senator McConnell, announced that his ‘single most important’ goal was defeating President Obama. Republicans have followed his lead, blocking bill after bill that would create jobs and help middle-class families, often without even bothering to pretend they disagree with the bipartisan, common-sense policies they are obstructing.

“The best thing we can do to spur on our recovery is to protect middle-class families from the fiscal cliff. Last week, the Senate passed a bill that would prevent middle-class families’ taxes from rising on January 1. Sadly, House Republicans are holding these middle-class tax cuts hostage, demanding additional tax cuts for the top two percent of taxpayers.

“Instead of spending all of their energy trying to defeat President Obama, I hope my Republican colleagues will listen to their constituents, drop their obstruction, and start working with Democrats. Middle-class Americans expect us to put politics aside and do the right thing for our economy, and they deserve nothing less.”

I remember all those years when Demcrats stopped trying to defeat Reagan and Bush I and II and dropped their ‘obstruction’ of these Republican president’s policies.

Was 8.2. Today it's 8.3. The left and it's Pravda media say this is really "good".

Imagine, if Oboma could just get another 4 years and drive it up to, say, 25% unemployment or more, we could all have a celebration. It would be over three times as "good."

Go Team Oboma. Yay! (/s)

The U.S. economy added 163,000 jobs in July, including 172,000 private sector jobs and 25,000 manufacturing jobs...

I can understand how they got here, but it begs the question what types of jobs did we loose to accomplish this?

Since when is a manufacturing job not a private sector job?

The words are "some of which were", NOT "and".

Dirty Harry Reid: The Mafia's "Mr. Clean Face" on the Nevada Gaming Commission

Reid is so mobbed up that he's a walking, talking blackmail machine. Axlerod and Rhambo could order him to walk naked down Pennsylvania Ave and he would do so instantly. Read Freeper Fedora's excellent investigative thread to understand this human slimeball, and why he is willing to humiliate himself: he as NO CHOICE.

What Romney and the GOP need to hammer and hammer hard is that this Administration’s has the WORST record of recovery since records have been kept. Their policies have been EPIC FAIL especially against an expenditure of Trillion$+ per year! Four years of fail is ample reason to say “Get thee GONE!”

Wait until next year, when the rest of the Bush tax cuts run out - 2 is gonna shoot up to 100 instantly.

Not too long ago Obama was proposing making the 'middle class' part of the temp tax cuts permanent - now he's offering a single year extension like he's doing us a big favor.

That should be a big red flag.
