McCain, Graham to Newsmax: Sequestration Will Cause 'Inability to Defend Nation'

Sens. John McCain and Lindsey Graham charged in an exclusive interview with Newsmax.TV Thursday that billions of dollars in automatic spending cuts scheduled to begin hitting the Defense Department next year under the so-called sequestration mechanism will lead to an “inability to defend the nation” from its enemies.

“Those cuts, in the words of the secretary of defense and all our uniformed leaders, would jeopardize our national security. In fact, Secretary [of Defense Leon] Panetta said it would be devastating,” said McCain on Thursday in a joint interview with Graham “to warn the country of the devastating effects of this sequestration and, literally, our inability to defend the nation.” …

Both McCain and Graham fear the message such drastic defense cuts will send to nations such as Iran, “a country that’s on the path to developing nuclear weapons,” McCain explained. “What lesson do the Chinese take from this, who are becoming more and more assertive? What lesson do the forces of al-Qaida around the world take from this? I think it’s all the wrong lesson.” …

Remember, this is part of that Kabuki dance that was passed
to raise the debt ceiling.

So, Sweet Lindsey, why did you and Mccain and the rest of
the RINO’s VOTE for it then? Did you think we would forget?
How could ANY CONSERVATIVE paying attention forget the DC
Kabuki Dance on the debt ceiling?

But running 1.5 trillion dollar deficits each year ad infinitim is just fine. Got it.

If this spending keeps up we will be lucky to have one carrier battle group in ten or fifteen years.

Fund the military and defund all Obama’s czars, Michelle’s staff, and only pay Obama for the days he actually works - AFTER he’s proven he’s eligible to receive ANY paycheck (which he can’t do without having a genuine draft registration on file and showing his documentation like any 14-year-old detasseler here in Nebraska).

Liars...

Think they’re on our side? Obviously you don’t. Good for you. It’s all about drumming up support for the unsupportable.

These guys will work any angle they can, to get us to vote for the worst of the worst.

These are two DNCjs.

“...conceded Graham. “But I am willing to close some loopholes and deductions, tax earmarks for a favored few at the expense of the many, to help save the military.”
The plan all along LOL!

What twerps. “More revenue, never spending cuts” Lindsey Graham and John McCain manuevered the military into their scheme to raise ‘don’t call it a tax’ taxes.
It was and is transparent.

I guess they could complain that their grandchildren just cannot stand being locked in a car in the middle of summer (in SC or AZ) without overheating and dying.

...perhaps a better approach for those two would have been to not lock them in the car, in the first place.

resulting in the smallest Air Force in the history of the United States, the smallest Navy since 1940...

That's quite a statement about the Air Force. Given what this regime has and is doing, it's not far fetched. I'm bearing in mind that the revolutionary air force probably consisted of perhaps a handful of hot-air balloons.

Geeeee...no one saw this one coming.

McConnell and Boehner must go. Congressional leadership is a disaster. These people make me think incendiary thoughts...non-metaphorical.

John McCain showed up for an interview with Newsmax.TV and took his seat with his dummy, Lindsay Graham, sitting in his lap. Lindsay began by saying, “You’re talking about 1.1 million jobs, a percent and a half increase in the unemployment rate, ....”

A woman in the audience with her facial skin stretched tight-as-a-drum stood up and interrupted, “I resemble that remark—with 500 million Americans out of work!”

John started swigging a big glass of water and Lindsay began speaking again: “It’s not like we won’t give. We’re not going to raise tax rates to fix America’s problems. We’re in a recession; that will kill us, but I am willing to close some loopholes and deductions, tax earmarks for a favored few at the expense of the many, to help save the military. We’re willing to be reasonable.”

The woman again jumped to her feet and yelled, “If you’re suggesting that we Democrats are responsible, I might just come up there and twist your head off, you POS!”

And John replied, “Hey now! It’s all just part of the act Nancy, you know that. We’re just trying to keep the people entertained here! Surely you know we’re all on the same side here, at least you and I are, and ...”

And the Head of the Office of the Former Speaker of the House cut him off, saying, “I’m not talking to you McCain. I’m talking to that little SOB in your lap! And don’t call me Shirley!”

Bingo 2!
They didn’t seem to have any objections when this was passed
as part of the Raising The Debt Ceiling.

Now Lindsey wants to Raise Taxes by closing the loopholes.

These hacks still don’t seem to understand what just happened
in Texas. Lindsey is up I think in 2014. God, I hope we get rid of him.

The responses on this thread,to McCain and Graham’s little “Theatre” are very encouraging. None of us are falling for these ‘Good cop/Bad cop’ little charades anymore. Both McCain and Graham, were out front, leading the charge for the debt ceiling deal and the creation of the unconstitutional,’Super Commission’,which all,but guaranteed the destruction of our conventional Military forces,if a budget deal between the dems and repubs, couldn’t be reached by Dec,2011. Surprise, guess what happened? A budget deal wasn’t reached. Go figure. So automatic cuts to our Military go into effect. That hypocrite McCain, actually said,”I have no problem with 800 billion dollars in cuts,to the Defense Department”,during the debt ceiling battle. Now he’s complaining about cuts to the Military. Do these two moron’s know about the internet and that we can go back and find out exactly what they said before? To top it all off,the repubs collaborated with the dems in reducing our nuclear deterrent force by 70%,with the Start 2 Treaty. Our next step, has to be the refusal to pay taxes. We have to go old school and starve this beast. The leftwing establishment of both parties, isn’t going to stop, untill their stood up to and stopped!

. . . an “inability to defend the nation” from its enemies.

______________________________________________________

America’s’s true enemies are currently internal, and its troops are overseas.

We haven’t won a war since WWII, despite all the spending.

Given the way the country’s run at this time, I really don’t think it makes a lick of difference whether we fund or not.
