Chick-fil-A ‘Kiss In’ Counter-Protest Was Sort of a Bust
New York Magazine ^ | 8/4/2012 | Caroline Bankoff

While Wednesday's Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day inspired an apparently record-setting number of people to display their commitment to bigotry by waiting in line for fast-food sandwiches, the demonstration designed to protest it — Friday's National Same Sex Kiss Day — turned out to be less of a draw.

Organizers expected a couple hundred protesters to converge on New York's single (and closed for the summer) Chick-fil-A outpost, located in NYU's Weinstein dining hall, at 8 p.m. Unfortunately, we're having trouble finding reports on the event besides that of the New York Post's Andrea Peyser (frequently to be taken with a grain of salt), who wrote that only about 20 people showed up for the demonstration and that "just three pairs of guys kissed on the street." We expect more Chick-fil-A backlash there come fall, when the University's generally calorie-conscious and gay-friendly students get back into town. (An NYU spokesman has already promised to "reexamine" the chain's presence on campus.)

Outside of New York, the National Same Sex Kiss Day founder hoped to see at least 15,000 people demonstrating at the restaurant's 1,600 locations. Again, the numbers seem to have fallen short: In Decatur, Georgia, about two dozen demonstrators gathered outside a Chick-fil-A bearing McDonald's bags, rainbow flags, and signs

... Friday's Bugger-In inspired virtually no one. The homo commitment to bigotry is writ large every time they open their mouths.

You're exactly right, Mach. It may take a generation to accomplish, but we need to get our children out of government schools and into either Christian-based schools or into homeschooling. We need to produce the next generation of conservatives outside of public school indoctrination.

This issue should go to the top of conservative’s reform platform.

The author is the bigot and most likely a fascist as well since she thinks thoughts opposed to hers are bigotry writ large. Why these people worship one man putting his penis in another mans rectum is something I will never get.

Pretty sorry that the left couldn't even hire some for such a display.

Notice how the media had to go out of their way or coordinate coverage of the kiss in. Most locations had no protesters.

Let your freak flag fly, Caroline. You lose. By the way:

They need to get ready to move from the queer friendly places such as Chicago, NYU. Why? Because from now until they shut down, they will be plagued by Govermental health Inspectors, Violations of Human Rights charges, phoney discrimination lawsuits and trumped up code violations, increased insurance premiums. Leave the "queer frendly " territory to the queers.

Plant City, Florida could use a store and I am sure other places would welcome them also.

This “Caroline Bankoff” doesn’t look old enough to be a “journ-O-list” Not enough life experiences (and obviously not a reader of The Constitution) to get the many issues here

Instead she just plagiarizes the same-o leftist media crap, and then uses “sort of” and “apparently” to soften what she inside knows to be facts. It was a BIG BUST Caroline, you fool. Grow up. There’s a reason people get more conservative as they age, the get life’s lesson and maturity.

You’ve got a long way to go. Shame on the New Yorker for giving an imbecile like you a forum. You obviously can’t think for yourself.

Homosexuals: Two percent, maybe three, of the American population.

Believing (in varying degrees and denominations) Christians: Seventy percent plus.

With those odds the first group should just STFU and be glad the second group isn't inclined to take and follow the Book of Leviticus literally. Yet.

It is my understanding that some Wendy’s and MacD places put up signs supporting CFA but were instructed to take them down. By their owners?

Seriously, reportette Bankoff should be fired for this slanted report.

But since she probably received no monetary compensation for it, they should keep her on staff and "salaried."

She's "earned" it.

This is REAL hate speech.

Demonize disagreement with aggressive foulness and insult, strip away all considerations except those of absolute philosophical obedience and submission, and substitute triviality for the deeper issues you're avoiding.

The Left has nothing except lies and murder. Historically, they murder until you accept their lies. That's it, that's all they have - murder and lies.

Just ask them. Go ahead - disagree with them on something. Anything. Then ask them about it.

They won't hide it - they'll tell you: they want you dead.

The franchise owners are the ones supporting CFA. They’re being told to take down the signs by corporate, I believe.

Couldn’t agree more.

NY Mag has her classified as “author” so they must have a very loose definition of writers.

If they payed her what she’s worth she’d starve to death so they should pay her just that.

Orders likely came down from higher than the store owner. The big wigs that run the McDoanlds name (and others) have it in the agreements that corp can say what can, and can not be displayed on the building.

This has always been a problem for fringe groups.

They live in a self-basting environment talking with only themselves and fellow travelers. When aided by the liberal media they tend to think of themselves as central mainstream people.

This week graphically displayed the real size of the gay community nation wide. On Wednesday, CFA was slammed by hundreds of customers per store. On Friday there was what, less than 100 kiss-in participants nation wide?

If that ratio was realistic that means the gay community is less than one per cent of the national population not the 25 to 30 per cent that they claim.

Oh well.....
