I’d love it if there were a Romney landslide, but I just don’t see it happening. I just don’t see how *any* GOP candidate prevails in places like California, New York, Illinois, or New Jersey in 2012 - all states Ronald Reagan took in 1980. I’d be quite happy to be wrong, but I really think it’s going to be an EV squeaker if Romney wins, even with strong turnout.

We’ll see, though.

If he is reelected, he will have no restraints on what he can and will do.

That's nonsense.

The GOP can grow a pair and throw the fraud in jail where he belongs.

The GOP has proved by refusing to confront the eligibility and SS# questions that they could care less about the suckers outside the Beltway that pay taxes to support the Federal apparatus.

This election is a fight between the 2 factions of the Washingtonians over who gets to control and redistribute the money.

GOP did NOTHING to cut government growth during the Bush years.

Now the RNC muscles in this simple SOB MYTH ROMNEY, this liberal liar, as the nominee, and they tell us to vote for him or else?

No way, no how.

Doesn't matter which faction wins, the Washingtonians will eventually suck every last dime out of the productive class that they can and when there is no more, that's it, collapse and start from square one

Time to rebuild, move the Capitol out of Washington, limit the Franchise, impose term limits, and throw the communist states of the Northeast out of the union.

And further if he is not delusional, vs. against the majority already, then why is he being placed in?

Deagle, you’re delusional.

Now matter how many times you have been lied to, you’re still hanging in there so the party can hoodwink you one more time.

Bud, step off the tread-mill. You’re running as fast as you can, and you’re going backwards.

Were we better off at the end of the Bush administration than we were at the beginning of it? Was Conservatism?

Don’t even answer me. For heaven’s sake, at least think about it yourself.

We... can not... continue... to vote for people who are going to govern against our beliefs... from our own party.

If we continue to do so, nobody will ever again be nominated that will govern as a Conservative.

If that’s what you want, then vote for this guy. And in so doing seal the fate of this nation forever.

Until we tell the GOPe that we will never again vote for Leftists, they will continue to make sure that’s all we get.

I have sworn that I will never again vote for a Leftist.

If you all want to, go ahead. Just get ready for what it garners you.

Well, so far he has used executive orders and regulations by EPA, Energy, etc to cripple our economy. Not sure what much else he can do but I’m sure he will continue because the idea of impeachment is unrealistic for Republicans.

Let’s see, he continues to spend without a budget approved by Congress (why isn’t that impeachable?). He has no fear from the Media so he seems to do whatever he wants to.

Not sure just how you think he can be stopped when Congress and the Courts seem to be afraid to act.

Oh no, now your going to have someone come on a state: “Mark my words no new taxes”? Wonder who said that?

Or list line by line, item by item, all the tax increases that I and II signed off on.

(it’s not going to be me.)

Best to you.

Well, I admit I have to agree with you to some extent as to disillusioned repeatedly by the Republicans. Actually, I have felt your passion regarding voting for fake Conservatives.

I have just become so discouraged with this administration and their corrupt DOJ, corrupt Presidency (Chicago style), that I’ve decided to forget it this election because America is being destroyed from within.

That is why I support mainly election of House and Senate Conservatives to try to correct the problem BUT with Obama I think that we are at a major crossroads. This man must be defeated at all costs or America could well be doomed for centuries. Sounds over dramatic, but I assure you that I really think that Obama is trying to deconstruct America and worse, it seems to be working.

The moves by the Democrats that screwed up the mortgage industry, were put into effect prior to 2006. For that reason I have blamed the Bush team and the Republican Congress for not fixing it.

They knew about it. They talked about it. They did nothing about it. Bush even went so far as to brag what percentage of home ownership we had in that nation, because it would be a feather in his cap. He didn’t really want to put an end to the threat, and neither did the Republican Congress.

I have railed on Frank and Dodd. Everyone should. None the less, we could have cleaned up that mess. So what did our illustrious team do. They punted, like they always do.

Which party could have blocked the mandatory cuts to the military starting next year? Did they? This is the kind of thing I’m talking about. This punting has got to stop. We are screwing the nation. Our party is. The Republican party is.

When things went south, they demonized the lending industry and blamed it for everything that went wrong. And while there were bad players in the industry, the industry was screwed if it held the paper, and screwed if it bundled it and passed it along.

Conservatives DON’T DO THIS to the nation they love.

That’s why my future votes will only go to a reasoned Conservative.

If Romney loses, we will have the Dick Cheney/Karl Rove establishment types tell us (themselves actually) that it was because his VP coice was a mistake for the ticket.

Dick Cheney has jumped the shark as far as I'm concerned...Was his last surgery for a lobotomy or to remove his heart?

For all the ranting and raving about Romney being the nominee we must acknowlege that a majority of primary voters or caucus goers, who are more likely to be more politically active, voted for Romney. A keystone of democracy is that the majority prevails - we don't have to agree with the majority but we have to accede to the "wisdom of the people".

In economics there is the concept of sunk costs and most economists agree that those costs cannot be recovered but that the wisest course of action is to maximize the returns from those costs. Do we insure a better return by following a course of action that insures Obama is re-elected or is thrown out of office. I have never be a Romney supporter, but the stakes are much too high to allow Obama to completely destroy our country.

Obama will not gain a single vote more than he got last time.

No one that voted for McCain will vote for him.
He will not get 98% of the black vote because of his pro gay stances.
He will not get the percentage of white male votes, now down by some 31% with white men.

The shifts that will naturally occur will swing several states.

It is never as close as the media wants it to be.

For the last 24 years, we have only gotten Leftists nominated to the Republican party. Please explain how that has worked out for us. Is our nation better off today than it was in 1989?

What you reference as pessimism, is a clear acknowledgement of reality.

I want change. I am not going to sign on to a Leftist Republican party for the rest of my life. It can either make it so we can nominate Conservatives or it can wither up and die.

Yes, but real change will be another party - not going to happen this election..so you can rant and rave or stay home, actually, I probably will after reading your comments.

Either way, you make no difference this time - maybe next time. Have a good night....

My guess is that if you toss those N/E states out, they’ll either go to Canada, or be back begging to get back in the nation, because they can’t afford the freebies they give away today without the federal government. It might actually fix things.

California would just become a USSR type hell-hole if it was cut loose. Mexico or a new entity called Astlan would govern. And all the problems with California, would hit it’s border states as illegals continued to flood the rest of the nation.

If we allow California to go, you might just as well let it’s border states go too, because they would be next.

This illegal alien invasion is a cancer that won’t stop until we face it down. Now where do we want to do that? On our present border with Mexico, or on Missouri’s border with Kansas. It’s our choice.

I appreciate your comments.

No, thank you! I've thoroughly enjoyed reading my exact same thoughts expressed.

They knew about it. They talked about it. They did nothing about it.
Hear, hear! Lot's of moderate/progressive knives in conservative's backs during all of that as well.

Sure, the party leaders chose Romney. That doesn’t change the fact that conservatives failed to beat the system. We have to figure out something more productive than “woe is me”. Maybe electing conservatives to Congress and the Senate isn’t the answer, or at least not the whole answer. Putting Romney in the White House certainly isn’t the answer.

Getting rid of Obama would be a tactical victory. Getting rid of Rove and his ilk would be a strategic victory.

Hey, one eye...America is a Constitutional Republic, not a Democracy.
If "a majority" said you can't own a gun are you simply going to turn it over like a good little sheep?
If "a majority" said you have to hand all you earn over to the government so that it can be redistributed as they see fit are you simply going to turn it over like a good little sheep?

I'm really looking forward to your reply.

Well at least you give recognition that the game is rigged.
How you gonna win when the game is rigged?
