Muslims can appear to look meditteranean, Italian, etc. If they are lighter skinned they can look european.

A very good friend of mine is from Afghanistan. Been here since the Russian invaision. His family was royalty and he escaped...not so much the rest of his family. He is an American citizen. Great guy.
But the first time I met him I thought he was...Mexican, LOL!
I started speaking espanol and he responded. He is fluent in several languages. Yo habla espanol muy poco...muy poco!
