I heard two pundits on PBS this AM who said that Cruz was the “Establishment” candidate or the “Bush candidate” . What was that all about? I heard on FOX that Cruz was the Tea Party candidate. Will someone please explain? Are the PBS people just off-base as usual? They said that Gov. Perry backed Cruz’ opponent and that Perry and the Bushes never got along. Is PBS just trying to fan flames or are they just trying to fill their air space with babble? I am not trying to fan flames. Just searching for the truth.

Not sure what PBS motives were. Maybe they are confused since many tea party people liked Perry. Perry backed the establishment guy. Ted Cruz is the tea party candidate and won overwhelmingly. He was supported by Sarah Palin.

The EnvironMentalist Commonutty frames issues this same way. If you don't instantly agree with each and every tenent or screwed up idea of theirs, they start bellowing that you are a polluter!

Now, as I see it, yes, there probably is a Bush wing and a Perry wing of the TX Repellican Party, but... Just because Cruz hasn't been in step with the Perry wing, doesn't automatically mean he's right in step with every aspect of the Bush wing!

Even Marco Rubio has been backing that so-called "dream act" and a couple of other things but that doesn't put him in the Romney wing totally either because Romney said he's against that stuff! See what I mean?

Both Rubio and Cruz are excellent conservative American-Cubans, and I hope for 2016 we have the Cruz-Rubio ticket to vote for. Well, maybe in 2020(sigh).

Cruz and Bush were on opposites sides of a Supreme Court battle involving the State of Texas' execution of a Mexican national...Cruz won. But Cruz did serve in the Bush administration.

And I found this...

At Princeton he was a champion debater. From there he went to Harvard Law School. "Cruz was off-the-charts brilliant," Prof. Alan Dershowitz told the National Review.

The Senate needs Ted Cruz...maybe even the Supreme Court.

I didn't hear the PBS clip, but it's totally wrong to think friction between Gov. Perry and the Bush family somehow identifies Ted Cruz as an "Establishment" or "Bush candidate"; that description perfectly fits his opponent in the primary, Lt. Gov. Dewhurst (except Dewhurst showed he has much less honor than GW Bush).

In my decades-long experience with Texas politics, I can't think of any successful candidate for a statewide office who is less of an Establishment politician than Ted Cruz.

A cornerstone of Cruz's campaign message is that voters are tired of career politicians in both parties, which is at the heart of the Tea Party philosophy.

PBS pundits will attempt to fill time in wild speculation and change the subject from the real story which is the Cruz win in Texas is a huge victory for the Tea Party and undeniable evidence of the power of this grassroots movement in a large state.

That was an amazing interview between Ted Cruz and Chris Wallace! My jaw literally dropped at the end as Cruz recalled Article 1, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution. I've never been so confident that Texans made the right choice for the U.S. Senate.
