Given that the US military will be picking up the pieces and paying in blood and treasure for any attack, I think they damn well should inform us.
Israel might not have any choice. Depending on the various agreements between the two countries, Israel might have to tell us when they are going to attack another country. That is what happens when you take our welfare money. What Israel should do is stop taking our aid so they can be independent and do what they want. STOP TAKING OUR AID ISRAEL AND YOU WILL BE BETTER OFF!!!
We give Israel over $3 billion a year in military aid.

I think what he may be saying is that we won’t take Iran out with this administration in office; Iran needs to be taken out, and this administration would likely warn them to torpedo the mission rather than help it happen.
Actually, I think Israel would be well advised to let the US administration *think* they were just about to attack Iran, to see what Oboloney would do.
Definitely keep an eye out to see if someone in the administration would send a message to Iran or other nations; or if Obama would try to use the US military to interfere with the attack.
Almost anything he did, or didn’t do, would be extremely vital to know, strategically. And after a few hours they could call Obama back to say they had to postpone the attack for [insert b.s. reason here].

I agree that’s a genuine worry but my priority is the well being of members of the US military.

I think it’s unlikely that Israel will overtly attack Iran while Obama is in office. Obama has shown every indication that he’d punish Israel and probably help, at least covertly, Iran. I think that Israel has focused all its energies on collapsing the Iranian regime from within. They will continue in that direction until the moment before they feel they have no other option than to strike at an actual nuclear weapon that is ready on the launch pad.
Also, I believe that Iran supplies 20% of the world’s oil. Any attack would necessarily stop that supply as that is the only target available to the Israelis. The nuclear facilities are too spread out and too deeply buried and protected for an attack on the facilities to have any real effect. That leaves only the oil. Such an attack would cause world-wide starvation and economic collapse. Israel does not want to be the “cause” of that.
The Israeli government would be wise to listen. Any heads up given to the current U.S. administration would be instantly forwarded to the iranians.

The Obamists can not be trusted to keep a secret, so I sympathize with Rumsfeld’s remark. But any open attack will lead to open war and we will be in it up to our elbows like it or not. So while they may not want to give up every detail, for their own sake they need to give us a heads up, time to get our own chess pieces into position.
Though, I get the impression we are already moving pieces into position.
I’m of the opinion that war is coming regardless. The nutcases in Iran are going to trigger it if the Israelis don’t do it first. So, regardless, we need to be preparing for what is most assuredly coming and probably soon.

I don’t think Israel is taking much of our damn money, at least not in the form of outright grants (unlike, e.g., Egypt & Pakistan.) These are loans, and Israel never defaults. Additionally, the military cooperation between the USA and Israel is a two-way street. Israel provides valuable intelligence & other assistance.
A good point well made. I’m not convinced that the IDF has the capability to do the job properly on their own. A half assed attack that excludes us could make the entire situation a lot more dangerous.
It is a difficult situation, no doubt about it.
I’m actually of the opinion that a successful attack on Iran is not possible without our complicity. We’re the ones with air bases on three sides and fleets sitting just off shore. A successful attack on their nuclear facilities would require a sustained air campaign that I don’t believe Israel is capable of maintaining from such a distance.
We’re the ones who can break an Iranian blockade of the Gulf and we’re the ones that can blockade Iranian ports, which is the real “nuclear” option, since they live by their oil exports and gasoline imports.
Israel keeps dropping hints but I don’t think it will happen without us. I’m not entirely convinced Obama wouldn’t launch for his own reasons.
What the Islamic world doesn't seem to realize is that the US hasn't been a "Christian" nation for at least the last 100+ years or more. But since we aren't (yet) an Islamic nation we are still their enemy.
Israel is under no obligation to tell this administration a thing.
If an administration were in office that did not despise Israel then they would have such an obligation.
Our government could stand a dismantling and rebuilding, with particular attention to the executive branch and the State Dept. Too bad the right man for the job (Newt) isn’t running :-( We will have to make do with the one that is.
Israel should test our ability to detect preparations for an imminent attack on Iran. Our surveillance tech is awesome, and controlled now by those hostile to Israel’s security. I would not be surprised if we are tracking the Israeli subs to watch for attack preparations. The NRO recon sats are probably wasting more time watching Israel than watching our enemies...what a sad state of affairs.
In January, we will not have a Defense Dept.
That may not be not the only target available to the Israelis, Israel has at least 200, probably closer to 300, nukes and the means to deliver them practically anywhere on earth with it's own submarine-launched ballistic missiles and it's highly efficient air force. Israel may not have traditional long range bombers that can reach Iran with nukes, but over the past few years they have modified purchased US aircraft such as the US F-16 that is fast approaching obsolescence in our air force into modernized mid-range bombers that can.
You must be one of those who believes we are in this mess in the ME because of Israel, right?

The aid that we give Israel is then used to buy our military equipment from our factories. Unlike every other country and entity that we slop money over to, it does not go into private Swiss bank accounts.
If Israel were to tell the Obamadork object about a planned attack, the dork would get on the black ImamPhone (tm) and immediately warn the slimy sleezy, lying brother muzzies.

Even nuclear bunker-busters could not guarantee destruction of all the sites...they are not so all powerful against hardened targets as many think.
But teams on the ground at the sites could destroy them. Air strikes cannot.
There is only one way for Israel to control access to the sites. Neutron weapons of limited kill radius could isolate the sites from Iranian troops and armor. Teams would need to get in and quickly assemble small bunkers built to block neutron bombardment. They can then keep the Iranians at bay while they proceed to destroy the sites.
I have thought about this a lot. I see no other way to control access to the sites other than the use of battlefield neutron devices and I see no way to destroy the sites without teams on the ground. I suppose Israel could just light up the whole place and put an end to Iran, but there are a lot of good folk there who do not hate the west. It was Carter that saddled these people with the despots that rule over them.

Nope. Isarel should only inform the U.S. after their planes are returning. Israel could clean up a lot of our grief in the M.E. What usually stops Israel from acting in it's own defense? Every State Department since Poppy Bush. Remember it was Israel who really stops Saddam's WMD program early on. Even though we had a very Israel friendly POTUS at the time they didn't even inform Reagan's State Department. The State Department is a sieve concerning leaks.

I'd rather see them inform Obama at the same time that any survivors at the targets would inform Tehran. There is no point in informing our enemies in the White House later than our enemies in Iran find out - we just can't let Obama find out earlier or he will cheerfully betray the Jews.
I don’t think once Israel got done with Iran even conventional that Iran would be in any position to harm anyone after Israel attacks. Israel will not use our insane R.O.E.’s either. The whole key to such an attack isn’t so much the structural aspect but who’s where at an oppertunity. That is the mistake we made over and over again giving warnings we were on the way. Did Reagan warn Quadaffy? LOL Nope and we almost took him out.

Israel will likely bomb Iran in Sept./Oct., before the election. They will not tell Hussein it’s going to happen. That’s as good as telling Iran.
Our military plans took off from an air base in Greece when we attacked Afghanistan. I know this is true as my son was in a hotel there where American pilots were staying as the air base housing was full. My son was still there until after we attacked Afghanistan.
I read some time ago, Israel and Greece have an understanding that Israeli planes can land at that air base. With Greece in need for money, I expect Israel will pay for using that air base. I could be completely wrong but I doubt it.

Great thinking!!! I wonder if they have thought of that? Should email them with your suggestion. I email them every so often as to what I am thinking, give them encouragement, and also give them suggestions.
