If you and small group of people realize this and call the millions who do not morons, that will make the problem worse instead of solving it.
My point was that there are three distinct “American Dreams” in this country and they are incompatible with each other. Perhaps moron was too strong, but the author is certanly naive to think that there is one homogenous American Dream. Obama is fulfilling the American Dream for about 25% of the population at the bottom and another 10% at the top and he’s smart enough to know that the middle is too busy and too complacent to do anything, and we’re largely powerless even if we did decide to act.
