For several tense weeks, our nation has been broiling unpleasantly in the cultural equivalent of polyunsaturated fat. And despite any profits or political points made during this Chick-fil-A debacle, I think weve all gotten a bit burned. As everyone now knows, this entire ordealfrom the Mike Huckabee-orchestrated Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day, to the Same-Sex Kiss Day that came after, the talking heads, the relentless stream of articles and opinion pieces on the controversy, the thousands upon thousands of online comments, the vitriolic tweets, impulsive Facebook statuses, and equally tart replies, the strained friendships, heated arguments with family members, all of itbegan when Chick-fil-As CEO, Dan Cathy, said in an interview with the Baptist Press that the company was guilty as charged when it came to endorsing the biblical view of traditional marriage. Several days later, on the Ken Coleman show, Cathy clarified that when it comes to legalizing same-sex marriage, I think we are inviting Gods judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at Him and say we know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage and I pray Gods mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we have the audacity to define what marriage is about.
When I first read about this story, it was actually mildly amusing to me. At least, it was amusing in the same way that the Crouches, that dazzlingly peculiar televangelist couple on TBN, unexpectedly paralyze my index finger while channel surfing. You may know the Crouches: She with Pomeranian on her lap, a towering pink wig on her skull, and tarantula lashes affixed to her face; he, slim, mustachioed, in a white suit, capped by a bounty of salt-and-pepper hair; both perched atop gilded thrones and cackling about sweet Baby Jesus...

They could climb up onto my roof and carve it into an actual slate, and likely just as many people would read it.
Everyone at SLATE is GAY, I think.

'Nuff said.
He admits to being a homosexual in the article, as well as plugging two of his own books.
Does it matter? Gay, or sympathetic to gays is all the same to me. They're all socialists. And they're all sick of mind. Some just in other ways than others...
I keep telling libs, “Yes, by all means, let’s stay out of each other’s personal business. So stop forcing people to support other people’s personal choices with their labor.”
It is legally impossible to mind my own business, when I am required to financially support your personal choices.
It turns out that they don’t want people to stay out of their lives that much.
Any port in a storm, but that could be rough on the binding...
I don’t think conservatives resemble “The Crouches” so much as these mad dog homosexual “activists” resemble Ernst Rolm and his SA...figuratively and literally.
In his world, Focus on the Family is a hate group.
Like all the others attacking CFA, he accuses them of hate and proceeds to vent his spleen with a couple thousand words of contemptuous vitriol aimed at, well, normal people.
No wonder they still love Hugo Boss, eh?
Put this in your bong and smoke it, Tinkerbell: Dan Cathy has an opinion on homo marriage. It happens to be an opinion shared by the vast majority of Americans, which is neither here nor there. The fact is, he is entitled to his opinion, regardless of whether it gets your tutu in a wad or not. I happen to agree with Mr Cathy’s opinion. So do millions of other people. And if you prancing poofs think you’re going to intimidate us into silence, think again.
Don’t you have skin flute practice, nancy-boy?
Actually, my nickname is “Big Fred” or “Phat Freddy” not Tinkerbell. LOL
He's a homosexual? What a surprise:
For them, every single body on proud display at the Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day, not to mention those leaning out of their car windows to scream ***! and ****! at gay couples milling about or kissing, was a tangible reminder of just how much they really do have to fear in this country. (Meanwhile, were trying to convince them that It Gets Better.) So know this: From the unspoken perspective of all the petrified, closeted 15-year-olds out there (I used to be one myself, after all), it makes absolutely no difference, none whatsoever, what your motives are in rallying behind Chick-fil-A. All they see is your raw hate.
His whole article is so smug and self righteous I have to laugh since it is so badly written and reasoned. I remember the days gone by when you actually had to have talent to make it as a writer.
I notice that there aren't any actual examples or phone cam videos of people leaning out their windows shouting anything.
LOL. I had to look him up, but yea I think you have something there. Perhaps we'll soon be seeing those black leather "Mr. Slave outfits" they often sport with runes and totenkopfs on them.
You know I am a pretty easy going guy. I really don’t care what consenting adults do in the privacy of their homes. I don’t approve of these activities, but I figure that it’s not something I can really do anything about anyway. So live and let live is my view on the topic. However, these gay activists are not content with that. They have to force their lifestyles on everyone else. They insist that we not only tolerate their deviate behavior, but we also fully embrace it. These people will not be happy until they ban all speech critical of their lifestyle choice. To that I say, hell no! I will not ever be silent and I will not ever think that homosexual coupling is any way equivalent to that of the bond between a wedded man and woman. If they don’t like it, that’s their problem. We still have freedom of speech in this country. Nowhere in the Constitution does it say you can’t have your feelings hurt.
He does not appear gay. He looks more like a sodomite. Maybe queer. Definitely not gay.
Better that then being a prideful, arrogant, intolerant neo-facist wanna be writer at Slate like Jesse Bering
And look at how he closes the piece:
“Let Aug. 1, 2012, go down as a day of infamy and national disgrace.
On that day, at-risk gay youth all over this country watched as an endless, self-righteous trail of Americans wrapped itself round and round Chick-fil-A franchises across the land.
And in this rare agglutination of the moral majority, they glimpsed the living, breathing presence of a brutal force whose sole aim it is to bully them into one of three equally disastrous directions: that of sham heterosexual marriage (and the deception of an opposite-sex spouse); the repressed life of a hypocritical moralizer, or that of virginal, social reclusion. “
I listened to an interview with Dan Cathy over the weekend, he mentioned that all Chick-Fil-A chicken is cooked in 100% pure peanut oil.
From the Peanut Institute on Peanut Oil:
Health Benefits
Peanut oil is one of the healthiest oils. It is a vegetable oil that is naturally trans fat-free, cholesterol free, and low in saturated fats. Peanut oil is high in unsaturated fats, especially monounsaturated fat, like olive oil. It is also a source of the antioxidant, vitamin E and phytosterols, which benefit heart-health. Peanut oil is also a perfect choice for healthier frying because it can be heated to a higher temperature than other oils, and this results in lower oil pick up in the food.
Peanut Oil Nutrition Studies
The health benefits of peanut oil on blood lipids and heart health were looked at in a controlled human study conducted at Penn State University, which assigned subjects to one of four diets:
The PO and PPB diets significantly improved total and bad LDL cholesterol levels similar to olive oil when compared to an AAD. Cardiovascular disease risk was also significantly reduced by the PO and PPB diets similar to the OO diet.
In another human study, weight loss was measured in those on a moderate fat diet versus a low-fat diet. Peanut oil was substituted for half of the fat in the moderate fat diet. Subjects on the diet including peanut oil lost weight and also had improved cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
Additional emerging data is showing the benefits of healthy fats in regards to type 2 diabetes. Data shows that insulin sensitivity can be improved when saturated fat is replaced with unsaturated fats, like those found in peanut oil.br
same for me, pro homo, or homo they’re both of the same and Im sick of them.
Suing and boycotting, intimidating basically NAZI thuggery and bigotry to business, cake makers, photographers, CFA, poeple who donate etc.
I’ts NAZI tactics and what gets me is that even on here we have a couple who still use the usual ignorant crap of”well I know a couple and they;re nice” {yawn}
This is all about ruining the country, ruining traditions, and the family and it;s time for people to wake the hell up about the homo agena and the GOP, many on talk radio and the elitist lot all speak up about this and so what if it pssies their homo pal off or their liberal pal or they don’t get the invites to the elitist cocktail parties.
Sums up the author if this drivel pretty well.
It’s like they want a war even after they lost the first time. Let them rant, wail and whine more.
You know this isn’t polling well when Obama doesn’t jump on this train.
Just to clarify for anyone who might be confused, my remarks were directed at the light-loafer author, not at 2DV.
I was arguing with an idiot the other day who said, “why can’t people just live and let live? Target and General Mills support gay marriage so conservatives boycott them and the gay marriage proponents do the same to Chik-fil-a.”
I agree with ‘live and let live, but explained the difference between the left and right is you dont see any mayors on the right trying to prevent Target or General Mills, etc from being in their city via force of government.
One side seems fond of tyranny. See whos tolerant ? All I see is leftist hate. If you disagree-you’re “hateful”. Donate money to a group that disagrees with them and you’ll be targeted like some Prop. 8 proponents were in CA.
I was jest funnin’ ya.
He admits to being a homosexual in the article, as well as plugging two of his own brothers.
Since Slate offends me I demand they be shut down.
Slate should not be allowed to promote their hatred of straight, white, working people.
Slate is a group of racists, heterophobes, first amendment (both freedom of religion and speech) haters.
No ISP should be allowed to carry any of their traffic.
Seems “FAIR” right? Have I successfully mirrored their position?
If you express your opinion, you’re prideful and arrogant. This is how leftists run America. They bully everyone else into shutting up.
You know what’s endless and self-righteous? That column. The ongoing outrageous outrage over the fact that Dan Cathy has the same right to an opinion as his opponents do. And finally, trying to do the same thing that just made the Cathys richer and expecting a different outcome. No, actually, that’s insanity.
Mark
We forget that contraception is the necessary paraphernaia of the Sexual Revolution. So, to be even more exact: many, maybe most of the folks at Slate are heterosexuals who, thanks to hormones, surgery, and the Pill, have l-o-n-g been devoted to unnatural sex.
These bastards really hate to have their asses handed to them don’t they!!! They just need to take their ass kicking and shut up!!
I thought half of America agreed with them...if so where are they...they didn’t show up for the kissoff!!!
“Fortunately for African-Americans, the U.S. government, which grows sluggishly, if incrementally, in its social conscience, eventually joined them and threw its weight into their tireless crusade against bigotry and prejudice.”
This madcap homosexual goes from “mildly amused” to` panties in a bunch’ in a hurry.
Black freepers: what do think about being held up by peter-puffers as `same/same’?
Worst. Opening. Sentence. Evah!
Been ranting against this type of "logic" for a very very long time. But then again, we are Freepers, so we're members of the 5% who didn't vote for Da One.
If you indulge in a relatively wholesome perversion, like licking high-heel shoes or persuading your wife to dress up in red latex, youre unlikely to feel proud of it. But if your personal identity revolves around your lust for other mens stinking anuses, a particularly disgusting form of depravity that spreads horrific diseases, the chest swells with self-satisfaction.
What a sick world we live in.
I know that Paul said, "...to be absent from flesh is to be in the presence of the Lord.", but at what point do people like Jesse Bering realize that they've made a horrible, horrible mistake...?
America has no need for the new order of “Homosocialism”.
Pretty much. That, or heterodhimmi. They tolerate hets, since hets breed brats that gays can skin in a restroom someplace to make more gays. Not much use for them otherwise, but they don't ritually kill them. Yet.
Actually, the author's real problem is with Genesis 20, which does have an opinion about homosexuality, one from which you can still feel the heat rising 3000 years later.
Chill, brother, and just wait for the Norks or the Chinese to do it for you. Hope you live at least 200 miles away.
I have often said that PLAYBOY started this entire Slide into HELL for this country.
Yeah right..both got burned..reminds me of this classic from "Monty Python and the Holy Grail"..

Black Knight: "Alright. We'll call it a draw!"
3fingas, i think your words are words to live by. LIVE AND LET LIVE. and also, your principle of ‘not forcing your lifestyles on everyone else’ is a good way of rephrasing this.
here’s the thing: dan cathy donates MILLIONS of dollars to organizations that do just that: they work actively to FORCE THEIR LIFESTYLES on gays and lesbians. it’s fundamentally unamerican. not just forcing their lifestyles: they work in some cases to support, literally, EXTERMINATING gays and lesbians. see, for example,
http://thenewcivilrightsmovement.com/chick-fil-a-profits-are-supporting-ugandas-kill-the-gays-bill/politics/2012/08/01/45430
that’s not just unamerican: it’s inhuman.
think about how this great nation was founded: the pilgrims were facing similar oppression in england, and had to sail across an ocean to get away from that kind of persecution. that was 1620; by 2012 we should surely have internalized the lessons of LIBERTY to where we can let other people have the same rights we do. including marrying the people they love. including — not getting exterminated.
it’s just the right thing to do. as you said: LIVE AND LET LIVE. your principles have, actually, helped me understand why so many gays and lesbians are upset over dan cathy’s very public pronouncement about his beliefs, and — more urgently — about his political activism against their physical and emotional welfare.
I see you have just recently created your account and I suppose you probably won’t be around here very long.
Anyhow, don’t take my post out of content and pretend that I agree with you. I don’t. Marriage is defined as a union between and a man and woman. This social institution is biologically natural and ultimately the foundation upon which everything else is built. Same sex coupling is both unnatural and, in my opinion, unhealthy for the persons involved and for society at large. Your smear of Chick-Fil-A is gratuitous and dishonest. Chick-Fil-A is business founded on Christian principles. You and other homosexual activists are threatened by that. If you don’t like the values that Dan Cathy supports, don’t patronize that business. Stop spreading lies and stop trying to impose your beliefs on us.
