The Prideful, Arrogant CEO of Chick-fil-A (Dan Cathy same as 1960's segregationist, or something)
Slate ^ | August 6, 2012 | Jesse Bering

Posted on 08/06/2012 11:49:15 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

For several tense weeks, our nation has been broiling unpleasantly in the cultural equivalent of polyunsaturated fat. And despite any profits or political points made during this Chick-fil-A debacle, I think we’ve all gotten a bit burned. As everyone now knows, this entire ordeal—from the Mike Huckabee-orchestrated “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day,” to the “Same-Sex Kiss Day” that came after, the talking heads, the relentless stream of articles and opinion pieces on the controversy, the thousands upon thousands of online comments, the vitriolic tweets, impulsive Facebook statuses, and equally tart replies, the strained friendships, heated arguments with family members, all of it—began when Chick-fil-A’s CEO, Dan Cathy, said in an interview with the Baptist Press that the company was “guilty as charged” when it came to endorsing the biblical view of traditional marriage. Several days later, on the Ken Coleman show, Cathy clarified that when it comes to legalizing same-sex marriage, “I think we are inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at Him and say ‘we know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage’ and I pray God’s mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we have the audacity to define what marriage is about.”

When I first read about this story, it was actually mildly amusing to me. At least, it was amusing in the same way that the Crouches, that dazzlingly peculiar televangelist couple on TBN, unexpectedly paralyze my index finger while channel surfing. You may know the Crouches: She with Pomeranian on her lap, a towering pink wig on her skull, and tarantula lashes affixed to her face; he, slim, mustachioed, in a white suit, capped by a bounty of salt-and-pepper hair; both perched atop gilded thrones and cackling about sweet Baby Jesus...

They could climb up onto my roof and carve it into an actual slate, and likely just as many people would read it.

He admits to being a homosexual in the article, as well as plugging two of his own books.

Everyone at SLATE is GAY, I think.

Does it matter? Gay, or sympathetic to gays is all the same to me. They're all socialists. And they're all sick of mind. Some just in other ways than others...

I keep telling libs, “Yes, by all means, let’s stay out of each other’s personal business. So stop forcing people to support other people’s personal choices with their labor.”

It is legally impossible to mind my own business, when I am required to financially support your personal choices.

It turns out that they don’t want people to stay out of their lives that much.

I don’t think conservatives resemble “The Crouches” so much as these mad dog homosexual “activists” resemble Ernst Rolm and his SA...figuratively and literally.

In his world, Focus on the Family is a hate group.

Like all the others attacking CFA, he accuses them of hate and proceeds to vent his spleen with a couple thousand words of contemptuous vitriol aimed at, well, normal people.

Put this in your bong and smoke it, Tinkerbell: Dan Cathy has an opinion on homo marriage. It happens to be an opinion shared by the vast majority of Americans, which is neither here nor there. The fact is, he is entitled to his opinion, regardless of whether it gets your tutu in a wad or not. I happen to agree with Mr Cathy’s opinion. So do millions of other people. And if you prancing poofs think you’re going to intimidate us into silence, think again.

Don’t you have skin flute practice, nancy-boy?

What a poorly written article. I like how he manages to insert his books into the story.

He's a homosexual? What a surprise:

For them, every single body on proud display at the “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day,” not to mention those leaning out of their car windows to scream “***!” and “****!” at gay couples milling about or kissing, was a tangible reminder of just how much they really do have to fear in this country. (Meanwhile, we’re trying to convince them that “It Gets Better.”) So know this: From the unspoken perspective of all the petrified, closeted 15-year-olds out there (I used to be one myself, after all), it makes absolutely no difference, none whatsoever, what your motives are in rallying behind Chick-fil-A. All they see is your raw hate.

His whole article is so smug and self righteous I have to laugh since it is so badly written and reasoned. I remember the days gone by when you actually had to have talent to make it as a writer.

I notice that there aren't any actual examples or phone cam videos of people leaning out their windows shouting anything.

LOL. I had to look him up, but yea I think you have something there. Perhaps we'll soon be seeing those black leather "Mr. Slave outfits" they often sport with runes and totenkopfs on them.

You know I am a pretty easy going guy. I really don’t care what consenting adults do in the privacy of their homes. I don’t approve of these activities, but I figure that it’s not something I can really do anything about anyway. So live and let live is my view on the topic. However, these gay activists are not content with that. They have to force their lifestyles on everyone else. They insist that we not only tolerate their deviate behavior, but we also fully embrace it. These people will not be happy until they ban all speech critical of their lifestyle choice. To that I say, hell no! I will not ever be silent and I will not ever think that homosexual coupling is any way equivalent to that of the bond between a wedded man and woman. If they don’t like it, that’s their problem. We still have freedom of speech in this country. Nowhere in the Constitution does it say you can’t have your feelings hurt.

He does not appear gay. He looks more like a sodomite. Maybe queer. Definitely not gay.

And look at how he closes the piece:

“Let Aug. 1, 2012, go down as a day of infamy and national disgrace.

On that day, at-risk gay youth all over this country watched as an endless, self-righteous trail of Americans wrapped itself round and round Chick-fil-A franchises across the land.

And in this rare agglutination of the moral majority, they glimpsed the living, breathing presence of a brutal force whose sole aim it is to bully them into one of three equally disastrous directions: that of sham heterosexual marriage (and the deception of an opposite-sex spouse); the repressed life of a hypocritical moralizer, or that of virginal, social reclusion. “
