Gallup: More Obama Voters Switching to GOP
Weekly Standard ^ | August 6, 2012 | Michael Warren

A new poll from Gallup looks at how many 2008 voters say they will switch parties in the presidential race. According to the poll, more Americans who voted for Barack Obama will be voting for Mitt Romney than John McCain voters will switch to vote for Obama. Here are Gallup's results:

But as Gallup notes in its analysis of the poll, even though Obama looks likely to win fewer votes than he did in 2008, his margin of victory was large enough that the race between the president and Romney remains close.

Oh yeah. I forgot. Lol. I wanted Santorum and you wanted Newt and we both lost. I just can’t believe the GOPe didn’t learn their lesson from McCain. This is worse as we have much to lose no matter who wins.

I don't personally care for Romney but I don't think Santorum or Bachmann would have faired well in the general. *Maybe* Palin, as she has already been through the meat grinder.

Do I think there was anyone better out there out of 300 million Americans. Absolutely. Do I think we had a better choice in the primary --for the general--not who I and the rest of FR would vote for but who I think would not have been destroyed by the MSM. Probably not. Newt, Santorum, Bachman -- I don't know if they could have beat Obama by the time the media and SNL got through with them.

I thought Newt had a chance because when he was a good, he was really good, and had the potential to take Obama apart that the others didn't have. But he also had the ability to self destruct as well. Overall, it was a badly flawed crop of candidates, which is unfortunate because the right guy might really have been able clobber Obama.

I used a bit of poetic licence by claiming no former McCain voters will vote for Obama but the figure Gallup quoted is absurd.

I have to wonder who the 5% claiming to have voted McCain yet will now vote for Obama could be, then I look at several comments on FR and maybe I don't need to wonder.

No, you don't need to wonder. Stevie Wonder can see how obvious it is.
