"I started FR as a hobby in my spare time while working on another business venture during the day. In the beginning, we were more about fighting government abuse, corruption, Clinton, et al, and creeping socialism. As more and more members signed up and started posting, it evolved into a site that set its goals on restoring the constitution. Seemed at the time that if we could only get the government to abide by the constitution, then it would be much smaller and have less room for corruption and abuse.

Then we noticed that many of our members signing up were either veterans or had family members serving and so we also evolved into a site that was very supportive of our troops and appreciative of all who fight or fought to keep us free. And we kept growing.

Along the way we became a great big family that played together, fought together, prayed together. We realized that this on-going fight was much bigger and had a lot more meaning than just the constitution and fighting corruption. The real fight turns out to be a fight to restore our traditional American way of life and to restore faith in God to a nation and a people who had lost their way and was completely demoralized. America cannot long survive if it turns its back on God!!

“Conservatism” to me means conserving our great American heritage and appreciating our founding and especially our great gift from God, our Liberty. America was founded on the belief that all men are created equal and are granted unalienable rights to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness by our creator, God. We have a classless society. No man need bow to another. We all share equality (equal treatment) under the law. We all have a right to our lives, our privacy, to live and raise our families where and how we choose and to educate our children as we choose. A right to our endeavors and to enjoy the fruits of our labor. To worship freely. To speak out. To own property. To bear arms. To defend ourselves against criminals, evil doers, tyranny and wannabe kings or dictators.

We are the only nation on earth (as far as I know) that was created and run by the people and for the people based on the belief that we’re all equal in God’s eyes and that our rights come directly from Him. Our rights are not granted by government. And government does not derive its powers from God. And our rights cannot be taken away by government!!

Our government derives its just powers from the consent of the governed! We the people created this government and WE granted or delegated to it certain limited powers and they are defined and enumerated in our constitution. All other powers are reserved to the states and the people! That’s you and me, brother and sister. We are the sovereigns. And it is our right and duty to secure or restore the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our posterity.

Free Republic has extended a welcome to all like-minded conservatives who believe the much or all of above and wish to join our fight. All others are welcome to do as they wish, but the should NOT TREAD ON US or our beliefs on our private property!! We aggressively defend our God-given right to freedom of speech and freedom of association!!
For God, Life, Family, Country, Liberty!!

On March 30, 1981, only 69 days into the new administration, Reagan, his press secretary James Brady, Washington police officer Thomas Delahanty, and Secret Service agent Timothy McCarthy were struck by gunfire from would-be assassin John Hinckley, Jr. outside the Washington Hilton Hotel. Although "close to death" during surgery, Reagan recovered and was released from the hospital on April 11, becoming the first serving U.S. President to survive being shot in an assassination attempt. The attempt had great influence on Reagan's popularity; polls indicated his approval rating to be around 73%.

Reagan believed that God had spared his life so that he might go on to fulfill a greater purpose.."

"Of all the many talks I had in Washington, none gave me such pleasure as that with you. There were two reasons for this. In the first place, you are about my oldest friend. In the second place, your self-assurance and to me, at least, demonstrated ability, give me a great feeling of confidence about the future

… and I have the utmost confidence that through your efforts we will eventually beat the hell out of those bastards —

" There are those in America today who have come to depend absolutely on government for their security. And when government fails they seek to rectify that failure in the form of granting government more power. So, as government has failed to control crime and violence with the means given it by the Constitution, they seek to give it more power at the expense of the Constitution.

But in doing so, in their willingness to give up their arms in the name of safety, they are really giving up their protection from what has always been the chief source of despotism — government.

Lord Acton said power corrupts. Surely then, if this is true, the more power we give the government the more corrupt it will become. And if we give it the power to confiscate our arms we also give up the ultimate means to combat that corrupt power. In doing so we can only assure that we will eventually be totally subject to it. When dictators come to power, the first thing they do is take away the people's weapons. It makes it so much easier for the secret police to operate, it makes it so much easier to force the will of the ruler upon the ruled."

"Ohio is a state in the Midwestern United States. Ohio is the 34th most extensive, the 7th most populous, and the 10th most densely populated of the 50 United States. The state's capital and largest city is Columbus. The name "Ohio" originated from Iroquois word ohi-yo’, meaning "great river". The state, originally partitioned from the Northwest Territory, was admitted to the Union as the 17th state (and the first under the Northwest Ordinance) on March 1, 1803.
Although there are conflicting narratives regarding the origin of the nickname, Ohio is historically known as the "Buckeye State" (relating to the Ohio buckeye tree) and Ohioans are also known as "Buckeyes"."

"New Hampshire is a state in the New England region of the northeastern United States of America. The state was named after the southern English county of Hampshire. It is bordered by Massachusetts to the south, Vermont to the west, Maine and the Atlantic Ocean to the east, and the Canadian province of Quebec to the north. New Hampshire is the 5th least extensive and the 9th least populous of the 50 U.S. states.
It became the first post-colonial sovereign nation in the Americas when it broke off from Great Britain in January 1776, and six months later was one of the original thirteen states that founded the United States of America. In June 1788, it became the ninth state to ratify the United States Constitution, bringing that document into effect. New Hampshire was the first U.S. state to have its own state constitution."

"Texas is the second most populous and the second most extensive of the 50 states in the United States of America, and the most extensive state of the 48 contiguous United States. The name, based on the Caddo word tejas meaning "friends" or "allies", was applied by the Spanish to the Caddo themselves and to the region of their settlement in East Texas.
Located in the South Central United States, Texas shares an international border with the Mexican states of Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, and Tamaulipas to the south, and borders the US states of New Mexico to the west, Oklahoma to the north, Arkansas to the northeast, and Louisiana to the east. Texas has an area of 268,820 square miles (696,200 km2), and a growing population of 25.7 million residents."
