Round up the campus psycho punks and other "revolutionaries" and put them on a campus in the Nevada desert. That would include not just students and hangers-on but also the employees of the universities spouting that revolutionary, social justice, "bring it all down, man" crap.

I was a little too young I guess to recall the content of radio news.. I guess I can find it somewhere on the 'Net though.
Yes, it was celebration.. can you imagine that? Evil uncaring folks glad that the war had ended and there would be no need for a million or so of our guys to invade and fight what was left of the Imperial Japanese military and population they had armed with sticks and stones.
