Mother who killed her child found working in area Walmart . (Dallas)

DALLAS - This past weekend, one Terrell Walmart shopper snapped a photo of a checkout cashier whose face she found familiar. Hours later, her suspicions were confirmed.

She had just encountered one of the most notorious characters in North Texas of the past decade: Dena Schlosser, the former Collin County mother who in 2004, killed her baby by cutting off her arms during a so-called religious frenzy.

She was found not guilty by reason of insanity, committed to a mental institution, released in 2008, and recommitted to the state hospital in Terrell in 2010. In late June, she was hired by Walmart as a store associate.

But psychiatrists have declared her not to be a risk.

Still, word spread quickly on the Internet, and area residents we talked with expressed concerns.

“For her to be in the hospital for such a short time, and then have the freedom that you and I enjoy, after what she did, I think is a shame and there should be an outcry from the public,” said Natalie Elmoghrabi, a former Terrell resident who was in town for the day.

Others expressed disappointment in Walmart for hiring someone who committed such an act.

"I think they would have delved farther into, or something wasn't disclosed maybe,” said Kaufman resident Rebecca Rodden. “Maybe Walmart just doesn’t know.”

Late Monday, Walmart confirmed that Schlosser, going now by the name Laettner, was hired in June.

"Mrs. Laettner is no longer employed by the company," said Lorenzo Lopez, a Walmart spokesman.

Lopez defended Walmart’s employment of Schlosser.

"All associates must pass a criminal background check as a condition of employment,” Lopez said. “If a charge does not result in a conviction, then we have no way of knowing an applicant’s previous criminal charges."

Lopez also says it would be improper to discriminate against prospective employees based on a psychological profile.

Yet they fired her Monday after News 8 raised questions about her past.

As to why the state has cleared Schlosser to mix with the general population, Department of State Health Services officials say patients are thoroughly assessed before a judge grants permission for their work release.

For the 3rd time today. We need to take a long hard look at the psychological profession.

The larger story here....despite this sick bitch....is the true power of the Internet.

When....WHEN.....will Constitutionalists truly learn? The Internet is the ultimate spotlight. Use it. It drives cockroaches like this baby-killing bitch back into the darkness.

What other cockroaches can be driven back?

It really is. There is no legitimate science to it.

99% BS.

Pschychiatry is a guessing game and half the time they are wrong. Better to use a Ouija board.

Now that she is unemployed I think those shrinks should hire her as a baby sitter.

She’s likely not a risk to anyone but her own children.

(Yeah, likely’s not good enough.)

But it’s probably better for her to work at Walmart, than make babies with someone who doesn’t know or doesn’t care. And there’s nothing, not public outcry, not corporate a— - covering, not psychological opinion, not judicial order, stopping her from making babies.

Oh, that “workplace violence” offender? He was found in contempt of court for a second time for refusing to shave his beard. I say we raffle off tickets for the lucky winner to get the honor of shaving it off for him!

Psychology is nothing but manipulation of thought and psychologists don’t even have the decency to base it in any kind of morality.

“Can you say “lawsuit”?

Yes, I was wondering about that too. I’m guessing there was something she didn’t disclose, or something like that, which gave them grounds to fire her. Because otherwise absolutely she can sue & win.

Also, Walmart has a lot of jobs, they could have stuck in a back stock room or something, of course they don’t want her dealing with the public. I would probably not even go into a store if I knew such a scary person was working there.

Now, having said that, the woman is not in jail and I suppose not going to be in jail. That is a great miscarriage of justice, but still, she must eat. So, she’s got to do some job, somewhere.

You see, this is why jail is a good place for people that need to be kept of the streets.

This vile murdering creature never faced conviction, never served time and is employed while millions of struggling Americans try to feed their families while looking for work.

How is it she was not treated other "insane" and put on trial for crimes once "sane" again? What father would get a pass?

She belongs in prison and so do the authorities who gave her a pass for butchering her own daughter.

Next thing you know, they’ll have Andrea Yates checking out at some east Texas WalMart.

Andrea Yates resides at the Kerrville State Hospital, a forensic psychiatric facility in Central TX. She's being considered for Day Passes to attend church services on Sundays in the local community.

Considering that Mrs. Yates religiousity played a large part in her murdering her children, and since there is a Chapel which was donated to the facility by the Dietert family, I don't know why she can't attend services on the mental hospital grounds.

Also, I would think that since religiousity played a large part in her feelings of unworthiness, going to hell, demons, etc, perhaps her doctors should discourage religiousity, rather than encouraging it..

BTW, Kerrville State Hospital is anything but secure, people just walk out the front gates, nobody notices they're gone..One psycho has been out for over a month, and is who knows where..Most of them, when the hospital bothers to notify the community in a timely manner are picked up quickly and returned.

I’m with ya on that sockmonkey. I STILL think about that horrible day. It happened so close to us. It was 11 years ago in June. I think of how old those precious angels would be today if it weren’t for that psycho and her dumb-ass husband who left those kids with her. He shoulda been charged with something.....like being STOOPID but unfortunately that ain’t against the law........(sigh). I said east Texas because she started out at Rusk State Hospital. I didn’t realize she had been transferred.

Thanks for the update. That case is still upsetting to think about. I can’t imagine the terror in those sweet kids must have gone through realizing their mother was trying to kill them. Truly a special place in Hades for that monster mom.

Exactly why Obummer wants to take control of the internet.
Right now, he is unable to control what we, as free people, can express, distribute and/or communicate. Once it goes on the internet, information (good or bad) is free to the world.

Control the internet? That’s a mighty tall order don’t you think? The U.S. is not the only country in the world where the internet flourishes. Will his influence and attempt at control be universal, because it will need to be for him to control the internet. The sooner Americans get rid of this
communist, the better off the world will be.

The nearest Church to Kerrville State Hospital is a large Methodist Church. It’s probably less than a third of a mile from the forensic facility.

Despite her being considered not a danger by the Doctors, what parent would not freak out to see Andrea Yates going to the restroom after a small child goes in, or see her lingering in the hall near the Sunday School Rooms or Daycare.

I used to work at the hospital, and I would freak out. Before it was a forensic hospital, one person deemed not dangerous, by one of their Psychiatrists went on a weekend pass & dismembered his wife with a chainsaw, and cooked her.
