The owner of a Colorado bakery said in spite of picket lines and online petitions he will not change a store policy against baking wedding cakes for homosexual couples – a policy that critics call hateful and bigoted.
More than 4,200 people have signed an online petition calling on the Masterpiece Cake Shop to ends its policy banning gay wedding cakes. Over the weekend, several dozen people picketed the privately-owned store in Lakewood, Colo.
Jack Phillips, the owner of the cake shop, said his ban on making cakes for gay weddings is a result of his religious beliefs.
“I’m not going to change my business because of a petition,” he told the Denver Post. “I’m just going to do the best I can do to honor Jesus Christ.”

Does it also mean that one's irony gene is recessive? What is more hateful and bigoted than attempting to bring financial ruin to someone because their beliefs differ?
He will bake birthday cakes for anyone, so he’s not a bigot. He simply will not take part in the ungodly ritual homosexual call “marriages,” but God and most states do not.
How is this any different than the brown-shirts harassing Jewish shop owners in the 30’s?

If people would let their own morals judge how they spent money, everything would work out just fine. You want to support only black, female, lesbian owned business then do so. Personally I will spend a little more to support Christian owned shops.

The headline writer has it wrong. I realize he/she is just trying to follow the code by using the euphemistic, newspeak “gay”, but these people are not gay. They are angry, messed-up homosexuals and lesbians who want others to approve their degeneracy and perversion.

I just donated $50.00 worth of cake to the VA Hospital. I also called and tod them I support their values. I’m trying to figure out which council ward they are in so that I can also call the council person. If anybody knows, ping me!
Years ago I worked with a homosexual who would gleefully let people know when he had a weekend with his boyfriend coming up. He would say that he needed to pick up some enemas so he’d be ready.
We’re supposed to normalize and celebrate something as abnormal and filthy as that? Never going to happen.
The “news” report makes it sound as if the owner of this shop denies service to people who are gay. In fact, it is WEDDING cakes he will not sell them, quite a different matter. Only at the very end do we hear that (a) he welcomes their business in all other ways and (b) the community is on his side, not the side of the angry mob.
Never had a problem with them and it wasn’t too long ago.
It’s when I saw them in a parade and how they acted, it was when I went home that night and thought about what I had seen .

According to a response to an e-mail another Freeper had sent him, he doesn't. But he'll gladly accept an order for a cake or other pastry to be sent to one of the organizations HE supports, and are within his delivery area. There is a list of those groups up the thread a bit.
Again, it's important to point out that he'll bake cakes for anyone's birthday, or other important life event, and he doesn't ASK about the recipient's sexual orientation, race, gender, etc. It is only cakes that have been ordered for a 'homosexual wedding' that he will not make, because he believes that the whole idea is wrong, and is against his religious beliefs.
Sounds like he was targeted, because someone knew of his beliefs and wanted to make trouble for him. Maybe they thought they'd get a lot of good press in the attempt, and make an example of him for other businesses. Heh. Kind of like with the CFA situation, they ran up against the Law of Unintended Consequences.
