the usb port on the one you are considering is to add a networked storage - like a hard drive - that can be accessed from computers on your network

that is a lotta router - at $155

I can get a less expensive ($60-90) Linksys or NetGear model wo/usb (don’t know if I’ll ever use it anyway), but will wireless work w/ a non-wireless computer?

It has same 3 things this current malfunctioning, bypassed Linksys 4000 has:

1) power supply,
2) ethernet from cable modem to router,
3) ethernet from router to computer,

Looks also like it has a wireless button on back. If not activated, will it work just like a regular router? Or is wireless router for wireless-only use?

Wasn’t this complicated 3-4yrs ago... maybe I’m making too much of this wireless?
