Rep. Allen West's Chick-fil-A Treat Gnaws at Black Caucus

Rep. Allen West's Chick-fil-A Treat Gnaws at Black Caucus By Amy Bingham | ABC OTUS News – 1 hr 13 mins ago

Members of the Congressional Black Caucus have lunched on their fair share of fried chicken, but when the group's only Republican member, Rep. Allen West of Florida, brought Chick-fil-A for his turn to provide lunch, "every member" of the group was offended, caucus member Rep. Alcee Hastings, D-Fla., told the Huffington Post this week.

West provided the now-controversial chicken sandwiches about six months ago, but Hastings' recollection of the delivery carries fresh potency in light of Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy's open support for a "biblical definition" of marriage.

Gay rights activists were incensed by Cathy's statements and staged a boycott of the chicken chain. Although the caucus' Chick-fil-A delivery took place before the recent hullabaloo, Hastings said, he saw it as an "in your face" way for West to make a statement in support of the company's conservative views, which the primarily Democratic group does not share.

"He did it deliberately," Hastings told the Huffington Post Monday. "Every member of the Congressional Black Caucus that was there was offended."

West spokeswoman Angela Melvin said his choice of Chick-fil-A "had nothing to do" with the company's values or stance on marriage.

"He loves Chick-fil-A," Melvin told ABC News. "Catered the event on something that was affordable and what average Americans eat. The fact that Mr. Hastings would turn this into anything else is laughable and desperate."

LOL.

“Melvin said West spent about $600 on the Chick-fil-A meal and that there was “not a plate left” by the end of the meeting.”

We need more like Mr. West.

=========================================================

They were deeply aggrieved, but hey. . . no need to let good chicken sandwiches go to waste.

“Every member of the Congressional Black Caucus that was there was offended.”

Hope Allen told them:

“Offended?!”
“You should learn to be more tolerant!”

"Every member" was offended?

West himself was offended?

You're telling me that West was offended because he himself bought Chick Fil A?

Sounds like you don't really count West as one of your club...

Great choice, Mr. West! I do believe he is thumbing his nose at the Black Caucus. I love his tactics.

Oh, gee, did the Congressional Black Caucus (Donkey) members get their collective panties in a wad over Rep. Allen West (R-FL) buying eats for them at Chick-fil-A? I thought these freeloaders loved everything as long as it was free?

Aw, that's really too bad. My heart pumps blood for you bunch of Donkey Marxists. Now, deal with it and STFU.

If Rep. Alan West brought the Chick-fil-A, then it’s a reasonable conjecture he was not offended by it, and, since he’s a member of the CBC, then it’s not possible that “every” member was offended.

More likely, only Professional Offendee Alcee Hastings was offended.

Then why do their constituents vote overwhelmingly against homosexual marriage every time they get a chance (i.e., Proposition 8) and say they’re against it in every poll? Why do black religious denominations rail against same-sex marriage? Doesn’t sound like these Democrats be representin’!!

So West provided the chicken before the controversy about gay marriage, and this idiot (impeached judge) Hastings remembers they were all offended anyway.

Was Miss Cleo there too, so they could tell the future?

Alcee Hastings is a real piece of work. He is a former Federal Judge who was impeached and convicted for taking bribes to throw cases. Then he ran for the House and the stupid people ( black Democrats) in his Florida district elected and reelected him several times since.

Good grief. Talk about scrapping the bottom of the barrel.

IT WAS 6 MONTHS AGO!

They just happen to be offended now.

They were offended that it wasn’t steak or some chi-chi cuisine from a TV chef.
