Contests are never won by "playing defense,"

This one surely was, look at the aftermath for the two 'contestants'. One is on TV being complimented for her display of her values. The other is fired, receiving 'death' threats is the poster boy for douchebags. A fine display of defensive civic combat.

It takes judgment to know how to respond.

Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him. Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit. (Proverbs 26:4,5)

Here's one that fits:

A whip for the horse, a bridle for the ass, and a rod for the fool's back. (Proverbs 26:3)

That fellow deserved the chastisement which he apparently received.

If you believe a young girl working the drive-thru, and some deluded homophile are the “contestants,” in this conflict, I’d have to agree with you.
