A billboard in downtown D.C. promoting gun ownership and gun safety drew criticism from Mayor Vincent Gray.
I think it's offensive, Gray said. You know we work very hard to be able to enforce our gun control laws.
The Connecticut-based group National Shooting Sports Foundation obtained a $550 permit for the 30-by-60 foot sign at 12th Street and Massachusetts Avenue in Northwest. The foundation told NBC4 it promotes gun safety and formal training at sites around the country.
Gray called the billboard irresponsible.
To promote the use of guns in the city I think really is just anti-safety, Gray said.
In 2008, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the District's outright ban on handgun ownership. The city has reluctantly eased its gun laws but still requires registration and gun safety training.
Strict gun control is the reason DC, Chicago and NYC are safe and violence free. /s
I think that DC itself is an offensive entity filled with evildoers of every stripe.
Cabela’s opened in East Hartford a few years ago. During the planning stage, a Hartford race-pimping councilwoman expressed her outrage that a company selling guns was going to open up a short distance from the gang infested streets of Hartford.
Somehow I have a difficult time picturing grill-faced, tattooed gang bangers lining up to drop $750 on tricked out Glocks at Cabela’s
Gray is obviously a hoplophobe.
Offending the permanantly offended is very easy.
No, Mr. Mayor, being unable to defend yourself is “anti-safety”.....
Mr. Mayor, what do you think the Colorado theatre patrons, trapped inside and about to be killed by a gunman, would have given to have 1 or 2 armed patrons inside with them?
“Our totalitarian dreams will never be fulfilled if the peeps have guns” Mayor Gray said.
So, dirtbag, how does a billboard urging people to exercise rights protected by the 2nd Amendment differ in its nature? It clearly doesn't - unless you are an unthinking, hoplophobic tyrant-wannabee (but I repeat myself).
Gray is offensive.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen. Samuel Adams
Gray is precisely the sort of unqualified moron so very popular with Leftist voters - both stupid and, at the same time, doctrinaire.
