On Tuesday, the Romney campaign blasted a nasty, controversial pro-Obama super PAC ad that blamed Mitt Romney for the death of a steelworker's wife after Bain Capital closed his plant and he lost health insurance.
The ad instantly came off as nasty, but it was further made damaged goods later in the day by CNN, when the network reported that Soptic's wife was laid off from her job in 2002 or 2003 and lost her health insurance.
She did not have health insurance through her husband's job.
President Barack Obama's campaign had been pleading ignorance, distancing itself from the super PAC ad.
But earlier this year, the Obama campaign featured the same worker, Joe Soptic, as a prominent part of its own attack on Romney's handling of GST Steel as the CEO of Bain Capital.
On "Morning Joe" today, Obama senior adviser Robert Gibbs said he had "seen some write-ups" of the ad and said he didn't know the "specifics of this man's case."

That was an “ad”? I thought it was just more of Barry’s chickensh*t lies and propaganda.
Not to mention what came out this afternoon (probably not new to most here), it was someone who is now an Obama campaign bundler who was heading the Bain ship when the layoffs happened, not Romney who gave up voting and operational control several years prior to this event.
Wolfie was incredulous at best tonight. The correspondent as much as accused Mr SuperPacMan of collusion. Needless to say he wasn’t very happy about his treatment.
Obama is responsible for the death of agent Brian Terry.
Amazing:::
...President Barack Obama’s campaign had been pleading ignorance...
Indeed. For the last 4 years.
Yup, by their logic. ....AND 200+ Mexican citizens.
CNN even slammed them on it. I think they smell a loser.
It might help with plausible deniability if ole Joe wasn’t wearing the same shirt in both ads. Be interesting to see who shot the film, wouldn’t surprise if it was the same crew on the same day.
“Uncoordinated” it’s not.

Many of these union folks enjoyed top of the line wages and benefits paid for by the company. When the company said it was struggling and needed concessions, the unions refused to negotiate. The unions in effect priced themselves out of their jobs.
The husband of that poor woman should be ashamed for his participation in this LIE!
I hope he chokes on the money he was paid to do this. Disgusting!
An interesting footnote. While Bain was trying to work on a bond sale to strengthen GST the union went on strike derailing the bond effort.
“I have noticed that tactic by numerous Obama/Dems spokespersons. When they are confronted with an issue, such as the one in this ad, they resort to a ‘well, I didn’t know anything about this ad or ‘I didn’t have anything to do with this ad.’”
Which is exactly the same thing ROMNEY said about his superpac ads against Newt Gingrich. Got no empathy for romney, only worse fear of four more years of obama.
Distancing himself from the dirt, mud and smears is Barry’s MO. He leaves the dirty work to his @$$kissing toadies while he portrays himself as a “child of the world”. Typical gangsta crap.
Utopia slammed into reality.
Wow. Good find. Guy is wearing the same shirt in obama’s ad and the super-pac ad, and the obama campaign wants to claim they don’t know nuttin’....lolol
Idiots.
