WASHINGTON (AP) Labor unions plan to send out more than 300,000 volunteers later this month to canvass voters to support President Barack Obamas re-election.
The effort begins on Aug. 25, when activists fan out across 27 states during a national day of action.
AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka says a record 400,000 union-based volunteers will be knocking on doors and talking to voters in all 50 states later this year.

No surprises here. Without the help of the major unions, the Democratic Party wouldn’t have a shadow of its ground game.
let’s make videos of FReeps asking them to leave...*smiles*
Thank goodness I live in Florida!
Any union goons showing up at my door have zero power with which to intimidate me, or my employer.
As for the public sector “union goons”, well, we are all working on eliminating that.....
Get in your neighbors faces...hope and change redux.
had a guy a couple of years ago who said he was from the union at my door.
LOL the guy will never come back here for sure after I had a go at him.
He wanted to vote yes on a tax increase to pay for this and that in this county.
As soon as I heard that I got into it with him and he shyed aay so much that he just kept agreeing with me in th eend and then high tailed it out of here.
Let them come to my house or me I’ll be welcoming them for a little talk.
Most likely head out to trash cars that have Republican/Conservative bumper stickers.
Make a video? Not a chance. No place I could ever air it.
Can’t wait for them to show. My property is posted with NO TRESS-PASS signs, which in my state means I do not give you “license” to be on my land. If 50 show up only 49 will leave.
If they come to my door I am gonna screw with them and tell them i voted for Obama the first time around and that I am not voting for him for a myriad of reasons.
I just wanna watch the confused look on their union thug faces.
Why isn't the AFL-CIO standing with their brethren in the power plant industry and coal industry? Thousands have lost their jobs and thousands more will do so in the near future.
Obama promised in his first campaign that he was gong to destroy the coal industry. He's doing it, and theses dumb basses are gonna support him?
I would like to canvas a neighborhood for them. Here is my speech:
Hello sir, I am sent here by the union to ask you to vote for Obama in the next election. Let me tell you why I feel he deserves your vote.....uh....just a second, let me think....oh screw it. I can’t think of anything he has done to earn your vote. Just vote for Romney and hope for the best.
If a union rep for obama comes to my door,he is gonna be embarrassed.
Please, someone come up with a universal, Conservative statement that we can print off and have ready to hand to them. Or a statement that we can hang on our doors. Bold and to the point would be great.
Unions have freedom of speech... we believe in that... conservatives support freedom.
Too bad liberals don’t feel the same about conservatives’ right to speech - like the speech of citizens who showed up for Chick-fil-A... and their rights in places like Chicago...
Obama’s out of work brown shirts need to do something to guarantee they stay out of work. Our tax dollars are at work.
Sign on my fence.
Didn’t hundreds of thousands of union goons go out and go door to door in 2010? Didn’t hundreds of thousands of union goons go out and go door to door in Wisconsin in June?
How’d that work out?
