GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Eight year old Alana Wenger's dreams were crushed when she was not let in to see President Obama speak at Grand Junction High School.
"When they said that no one could go in I was so frustrated," she said.
Alana has aspergers, and she does not do well in the heat. So, her dad waited until 4:00 p.m. to show up to the event, because his tickets said the president would speak at 5:30p.m.
"I thought what a great historic event to take my daughter to and she'll remember it her whole life," Shannon Wenger said. "And then we got there and they said nope, sorry. No explanation."
But the part that rubs this father and daughter the wrong way is that after they were told they would not be allowed inside a man was let in.
"That a prominent democrat would get let into the event after we were told the secret service said nobody else is allowed in. it's a security risk, but there was obviously somebody that wasn't," Wenger said.
He says Obama's people are contradicting what his campaign is all about.
"A lot of his campaigning is about people shouldn't be treated special because of who they know or how much money they have and we saw it in action yesterday that somebody did get treated special," Wenger said.

There is something about this that hints of set up.
What gives me the giggles, however, is that this is exactly the type of thing that the Left has done for decades.
And I like it.
I think it is very strange that a candidate would be early to any event.
I have limited experience with on-the-ground politics, but in what little experience I’ve had the candidate(s) are ALWAYS late.
And of course, they should honor the tickets, that’s just ridiculous that they wouldn’t.
Poor little girl's biggest challenge in life is not her aspergers - it's that she has attention-seeking idjits for parents.
I am so damned tired of all this victim crap. "I have special needs, I want, somebody needs to pay....., et al." The only thing that is 'special' about her is that her daddy convinced some bleeding heart liberal reporter to air that pathetic crap. "Little girl, as President, I (Obama) don't care about you - you'll cost us too much for just your one vote. Right now I'm only trying to get your mommy and daddy's vote - so move along and tell someone who gives a crap. There are more people here wanting in that will give me more money than your daddy."
No, dear. Obama's people are just following orders.
You seriously didn't think His Hineyness would stoop to breathing the same air that you and your child do, did you?
Remember, Wenger - You can tell a lot by someones character by how they treat people that can do nothing for them.
These clueless idiots almost make you feel sorry for them......almost.
more reports of people fainting.....their falling over like “plants”
Whoops. No, I was wrong. That Dad is a for reals Obama voter.
The dude is actually posting in the comments section of that link and arguing with people. You don’t see that happen often.
What a bad idea.
she has it and obama is one.
That is out of season here, ours gets ripe in early spring.
Hard to get good aspbergers in the store, has a ‘woody’ tough stem, and little flavor.
I have a kid with aspergers (which simply exists to put a label on smart people who think and act a bit differently than the norm, IMHO) and he does just fine in the heat. I don't really understand how the heat is an issue.
“I thought what a great historic event to take my daughter to and she’ll remember it her whole life,” Shannon Wenger said.
I don’t see the problem here. The kid was screwed over by Obama. Join the club. Hundreds of millions of members.
So yes. She’ll “remember it her whole life”.
Bwa ha haaaa...
Grand Junction High School? This event was not held at Mesa University? What’s up with that?
Never claimed I could spell..... funny, though.
Mom needs to reread Animal Farm.
I can’t spell either.
This was a very lucky little child, not having to listen to the blathering clown.
Hi daughter would have enjoyed a trip to Dairy Queen just as much or more.
It was the best thing that could have happened to the kid. Why subject her to being in the same room with Marxist liar?
Oh, I didn’t take your answer as a denigration. I just believe in my heart that Aspergers syndrome was created to be able to apply a label to people who are different, maybe a bit eccentric, but NOT ill or victims. Those with Aspergers are lacking in some social skills. That is the definition of Asperers. My husband, his father, my oldest son, my youngest son, my father, and I all have, to a varying degree, symptoms of Aspergers. The problem with Aspergers is that there is no test to confirm it. All diagnoses are subjective. I’ve had doctors say the youngest has it and others say no, he doesn’t.
Some famous/well known people speculated to have or have Aspergers, Einstein, Edison, Lincoln, Turing, Benjamin Franklin, Carl Jung, Emily Dickinson, Franza Kafka, Marilyn Monroe, Washington, HP Lovecraft, Henry Ford, Newton, Beethoven, Mark Twain, Michelangelo, Mozart, Alfred Hitchcock, Andy Kaufman, Howard Hughes, Bill Gates, Al Gore, Kevin Mitnick, Adrian Lamo (Famous hackers), Michael Palin (british comedian, no relation to Sarah), John Nash (A Beautiful Mind), Keith Olbermann, Robin Williams, James Taylor, Bob Dylan.......and so on.
Quite a diverse list and not at all handicapped (well, maybe Gore and Olbermann)
The best current cultural character with Aspergers is the physicist, Sheldon Cooper, on the TV show, THe Big Bang Theory. At my house, we joke about my husband and my youngest being just like him. He may be different, but he isn’t a victim.
I just honestly, in all my readings, never saw intolerance to heat in association with the syndrome which was why I posted my comment.
You are correct. We have a winner!
