Mitt Romneys campaign released a television ad asking what it says about President Obamas character that his super PAC released a video suggesting that Romney caused a woman to die of cancer.
What does it say about a presidents character when his campaign tries to use the tragedy of a womans death for political gain? the narrator in the Romney ad asks. The video features still shots of the Priorities USA Action ad and of campaign spokeswoman Jen Psaki claiming that she cant speak to the ad during a recent appearance on CNN.

The 2008 campaign introduced the nation to "Joe the Plumber".
The 2012 campaign brings us "Joe the 'Soptic' Tank".
Obama's bus is driving the country into the crapper.
Whoa! And I thought Romney “wasn’t fighting back.”
Team Romney needs to come out with those kinds of counter ads as soon as possible.
That one hits hard — at the occupant in the Oval Office.

Dems will be in WHINE mode by 6:00 news hour.
Love it, takes the high road and uses his minions words agaisnt him.
It is a good start.
Now, continue to define his character. Inform the public of his communist background. His failure as a student in college-I.E. he got into Harvard with failing grades. Until he proves he did not have failing grades, keep insisting he got into these schools by lying.
I actually like Joe the Dumber “Lord of the Soptic Tank”
Too bad they couldn’t have worked in audio of Stepanie Cutter denying any knowledge of this guy and his story, then showing how she hosted a conference call with this guy talking to pressies 6 months ago. Shows how Obama lies and when caught, lies even more. Would further trash his character.
Hannity said last night that Team Roomey had just hired some headhunters but couldn't say who they were that he promised them not to announce their names
Good start in questioning obama’s character. Romney needs to keep the pressure on.
I disagree...weak ad that does NOT go far enough. Once again, Obama’s minions do the dirty work, as he floats above it all, and Mittens just looks to be whining again and again. Americans do not mind a candidate that fights dirty to win. What they cannot stand is a loser that whines and complains, and won’t fight dirty with dirtier. Romney is running out of time. Ads like this will NOT do the job.
Question: To whom does character matter?
Certainly not any Democrat.
Yes it is.
Failed ad. Undecideds are not interested in “unfair attacks.” All they register is the dirt ball when it hits Romney. They do not see ads like these — white TV noise as far as they are concerned. It’s working two different levels: Obama’s handful of sh*t thrown in the viewer’s face about Romney vs. Romney’s intellectual response that does not register with the voter. It’s the debating team president scolding the bully after the bully has beaten the crap out of him.
Ok, tell us your ad.
Because there is nothing Romney could do short of calling the guy a “f*cking faggot that wasn’t even born in the U.S.” that would ever satisfy some people here.
You want to “fight dirty”. What does that even mean? Should Romney make some stuff up and hope to get away with it too? take a shot at Michelle Obama? Elude to Biden being a child molester?
That’s the best hard hitting ad I have seen coming from the Romney campaign. Let’s hope they keep it up in the future.
Lie Number One: Mitt Romney closed the Plant.
Truth: Bain Capital closed the plant two whole years AFTER Romney left Bain Capital.
Lie Number Two: Mrs. Soptic died because she lost her insurance when Mr. Soptic lost his job.
Truth: Mrs. Soptic had a job and had health insurance of her own at the time GST Steel was closed by Bain Capital.
Lie Number 3: Mr Soptic said he couldn't get insurance at his replacement job.
Truth: He was offered insurance for his wife at his new job (she had lost her job and lost her insurance) but he instead chose to pay for his daughter's college tuition.
Lie Number 4: The video sequence makes it seem like Mrs. Soptic died soon after Bain Capital closed GST Steel.
Truth: She died 22 days After she found out she had Cancer BUT GST steel closed 6 YEARS EARLIER!
Lie Number 5: In the video Mr. Soptic makes it seem like Bain Capital just closed the plant and let everyone go.
Truth: Bain Capital offered to buy out their jobs prior to the plant closing by Mr. Soptic's own admission yet its not mentioned in the video.
Good. I can only hope & pray Romney will fight very hard these next 88 days and do what McLame would not.
I agree, he has to do it but not go over the line...this one was perfect. Go over the line you look worried, don’t fight and you look like a loser whimp. This one is perfect on all counts.
Now rather than counter punching, Romney needs to begin taking it to the fag immigrant. I’d start with Obamacare...ah, it is not a tax, but wait it is.
Then get onto the “secret” stuff, like his writing EO’s to do the work that congress should while keeping them quiet as he can. Juxtapose that against requests for birth certificates, passport records, school records and end up just what is the most transparent pResident hiding.
It’s a real good ad but I wouldn’t mind it much if Romney called Obama a f*cking lying marxist pig.
You will see them on your tube in a few weeks.
I definitely want him to hit back on Obongo’s low blows and not let him get away with them, but I also want him to be relentless on the economy, because Obongo doesn’t have a leg to stand on regarding what he’s done to the economy and how he’s trying to stick it to taxpayers. He’s not only doing nothing to spur jobs and growth, he’s doing actively detrimental things. Obongo wants everyone to just ignore the elephant in the room-the economy.
Yup. Its all over. Might just as well concede now and save the money. You are right as rain. Sheeeeeeeee-it.
Romney better stay on this. The top searches for “GST Steel” point to Obama’s attack sites. It’s called Romneynomics or something.
The biggest truth is that GST was going down no matter what.
Romney ought to run commercials showing all the people who would have died under Obamacare. I know people who beat Stage IV cancer that would have been placed on palliative care and left to die on Obamacare.
Excellent suggestion as it is simpler and more direct.
It will take a little while to see how effective this is. You certainly don’t know. But we DO know that both the “welfare” ads are driving the Zero people crazy, and as Rush said today, the first one alone undid all the “rich kid” crap they’ve been throwing at Romney for a month.
Montag is correct. That ad is tougher than McCain would have been, but a marshmallow tossed at a pillow would be tougher than McCain’s campaign.
Romney needs to connect the dots and use the voice of Obama’s people denying and then admitting it. To simply parry the blow is to lose. You’ve got to thrust the point home.
Then do it over and over and over again. I think you set Obama up as a Nixon on governance and a Carter on economics and do so relentlessly.
Team Romney is getting better, but they certainly don’t seem to have the killer instinct you’d expect this late in the campaign.
Obama needs to be politically wounded til he bleeds out of office. His meme is a base, but effective appeal to Romney’s strength - business management. Obama’s admits his success, but says it comes at the cost of people’s lives. Envy is real and Obama is desperate. I believe that this type of ad is aimed more at his base than at independents.
However you’ll not be able to beat Obama at the class warfare game. You need to make it clear that Obama is a liar - per the ad at the link, but it’s too soft. Then you need to point out Obama’s destruction of whole sectors of the economy.
I don’t care about a guy using his dead wife. I care about the Prez and his thugs lying about an opponent, repeatedly. Lying about another person’s behavior or character is awful.
If we don't get some people in office with the balls to enforce the laws and to protect the US Constitution this country is doomed.
Yep, good ad.
