The Virginia State Board of Elections provides an example of how states should be conducting election administration. While many U.S. counties have over 100 percent of living adults registered to vote, Virginia has none. Even better, Virginia has purchased the Social Security Death Index database so state election officials can run computerized matches against Virginia voter rolls.
The new policy of the Virginia State Board has paid off.
Virginia’s initial sweep has yielded 10,000 dead voters who were never before removed from the rolls. These zombies won’t be able to vote, through a criminal impersonator of course, in the 2012 presidential election. Elected and appointed officials in Virgina deserve the praise of Virginia voters who don’t want their vote diluted in November. True the Vote, the nation’s leading election integrity watchdog, has issued this statement:
This will go a long way to improve faith in our voting system and set a good example for others to follow, True The Vote President Catherine Engelbrecht said. The Commonwealth of Virginias recent decision to purchase the Social Security Administrations Death Master File is the optimal tool necessary to affirm that the deceased will not have ballots waiting for them on November 6th. Every legal action that state and local authorities can take to improve our election system builds confidence in the process voter list maintenance is the keystone to election integrity.
The troubling part is that Virginia is one of the few states that have taken this step. In many jurisdictions, election officials still scan obituaries for indications that someone has died.
Huh? Why should Virginia have to pay for that?
eric holder will be filing court papers next week to stop the removal
“These zombies wont be able to vote, through a criminal impersonator of course, in the 2012 presidential election.”
How about finding out how many of them voted after they were dead, last time around?
Didn’t someone post a story last month that 3,000,000 dead people were registered to vote.
The illegal alien vote is bigger than that. Have they done anything to reduce the illegal alien vote?
Better they should wait till the election and seize the ones that vote under those names..
But must be republicans are AFRAID to get into democrats faces..
Cause you KNOW it would be ALL democrats voting that way..
The question just how many republicans are COWARDS..?
They may have. Was it a story about Cook County?
Does anyone keep a VA Ping list?
I’m moving to VA in a few weeks and would like to be the VA Ping list - or if there isn’t a list yet, I would like to start and maintain one.
those will all vote absentee. You will never see them.
Any notary will be arrested and sacrificed as an “isolated case”
Why should Virginia have to pay for that?”
No state agency should have to pay for use of this file. Would be interesting to see how many dead people filed state tax returns this year and received a refund.
SSA should have a master file which lists information on anyone who had ever applied for a SS# which would be updated to reflect those that were deceased. Anyone with a need to know and who is dealing with payroll, any type of state or federal benefit payments or tax returns should be able to access the information. If you need information on a certain ss# it should spit out a listing of everyone who has that number, their name(s), address(es) and date(s) of birth.
But then we are dealing with a government agency so I’m sure it will never happen.
They may have. Was it a story about Cook County?
Nation wide I think.
I’m surprised Holder hasn’t sued to have this stopped.
3 million dead registered to vote.
"DOUBLE DOG DANG!"
I’d love to see video of faces at the polling locations, and then allow computers to cross reference those voting with the faces at other voting locations in the region.
They can certainly have video of my mug for this purpose.
I agree, and it’s not even Connecticut.
Last I heard it was Corin Stormhands. Corin, are you still on board for Virginia pings?
Randita, are you abandoning the Pennsylvania ping list, or just Pennsylvania (like I did)?
This is also aided by the fact that Virginia is the only state that requires SSNs to register to vote: they were grandfathered in under Federal law.
It used to be Corin Stormhands, but he hasn’t posted in over a year. I’d say go for it.
Just change the state in your profile: you’ll get stuff.
Welcome to the Commonwealth! If you stay here you’ll look back and think it was one the best things you ever did. It ain’t perfect but its a nice and quirky place.
Lots of Virginians on FR as well.
The reason is we have just over 300,000,000 people. If they can all live as long as 100 years, that give you about 3,000,000 dead guys per year. Presuming they are mostly adults, and registered to vote, that's what you'd have.
The real issue isn't about how many registered voters end up dead by election day each year, but how many are kept registered year after year after year.
In the Russian Empire, before the emancipation of the serfs in 1861, landowners were entitled to own serfs to farm their land. Serfs were for most purposes considered the property of the landowner, and could be bought, sold or mortgaged, as any other chattel. To count serfs (and people in general), the measure word “soul” was used: e.g., “six souls of serfs”. The plot of the novel relies on “dead souls” (i.e., “dead serfs”) which are still accounted for in property registers.
Chichikov’s macabre mission to acquire “dead souls” is actually just another complicated scheme to inflate his social standing. He hopes to collect the legal ownership rights to dead serfs as a way of inflating his apparent wealth and power. Once he acquires enough dead souls, he will retire to a large farm and take out an enormous loan against them, finally acquiring the great wealth he desires.
I’d love them to do the work of cross referencing how many of the dead took a ballot in ‘08.
If he finds out those dead people are here illegally, he'll spare no expense defending their voting rights.
LOL! That’s hilarious!
Any idea how many of us there are - and in what general locations?
I just saw the count of 1353. Not bad considering the total number.
Not me; I don't live in VA.
Just abandoning PA. Franklin County, VA - here we come - VA’s 5th Cong. District.
I’ll keep the PA Ping List until I find someone else to take over. It’s really not a big job.
I’m starting a VA Ping List. If you want to be on it, freepmail me. Thanks.
“It used to be Corin Stormhands, but he hasnt posted in over a year. Id say go for it.”
Well, here’s hoping that Virginia hasn’t recently removed him from the voter rolls.
I just freepmailed a bunch of VA freepers to see if someone wants to do Virginia. Hope someone will come forward in this election year.
I do believe that Corin kept his VA ping list on his profile page.
Good info. I received one inquiry already.
I have no official capacity here; on the other hand, free people do step up without having to be asked until the official person comes forward. In a free society, this does not get you ticketed/jailed/fined. Nor your dog shot.
Well, I just went to Corin's profile page, and it was blank except for the words, "Elvis has left the building." So I guess the job is really up for grabs. Maybe he's @ clown posse now.
That’s downright creepy. Yikes!

Someone might want to check with EDINVA to see if the pinglist was saved.
Not him - heck I'm not even there anymore and he was never there.
Virgil Goode ping.
Corin’s homepage has the message, “Elvis has left the building.” His last post was in July of 2011. No list there.
Well, it looks like you are nominated, randita! EDIVA may have the list. If not, you have the cc I sent you earlier to get started with!

In the double post, EDINVA’s name is spelled correctly in the second one. OOPS!
I don’t see a cc with the start of a list. Can you send it again?
Yikes, is that babbling freak still around?
