(Arlington, VA) Army Brigadier General Tammy Smith has become the first openly gay flag officer to come out while currently serving in the U.S. military. She was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General in a private ceremony which took place today at the Women’s Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery. BG Smith received her stars from her wife, Tracey Hepner.
“For years, gay and lesbian generals and admirals were forced to hide their families in order to protect their careers. It is a great day for our military and for our nation when this courageous leader is finally able to recognize her wife for her support and sacrifice in the same way that all military families should be recognized for their service to our country,” said Sue Fulton, a 1980 West Point graduate and member of the OutServe Board of Directors.
Any ideas on reversing all this? Even Romney is OK with it, how can the clear majority of Americans not have a voice in this?

She got promoted then said she was a dyke, then started parading her “wife” around. I guess she considers herself the “husband” in this sicko relationship. That’s the story. Instead of being made into some kind of hero, she should be discharged for lying for all the years she served, when being homosexual was against the UCMJ. That should be the story. This woman should be court-martialed. She’s a liar and brought dishonor on the US military.

I knew it would be a woman when I saw the title. It is my unscientific observation that about half the females I serve with are lesbians -and I didn't need the DADT repeal to know who they were as most didn't go to any great lengths to hide it.

Yeah, Santorum would be perfect, on this issue he is a true believer. Gingrich might be a little uncomfortable with moral issues given his past, but he would atleast put breaks on this. Heck, Huckabee would be better than Romney, atleast he is a social conservative.

The Royal Navy made buggery a death penalty offense because commissioned officers were sexually assaulting ship’s boys. Predation of the lower ranks by male and female superior officers and non commissioned officers can completely destroy the military. In today’s political climate, their criminal conduct will be overlooked if not openly encouraged.

Republics will not survive if they do not “promote public Virtue”. This was stated by Montesquieu who said all governments-—to survive have certain things they HAVE to cultivate in the population. Tyrannical govt. have to cultivate Fear. Monarchy’s have to cultivate Honor.
