Newt Gingrich wants a Regis and Kathie Lee style show with wife Callista The Daily CallerThe Daily Caller 4 hrs ago
For 17 years, and 12 on a national basis, Regis Philbin and Kathie Lee Gifford hosted a morning talk show with a broad spectrum of topics that ultimately became a ratings hit throughout the 1990s and into the year 2000.
And thats exactly what former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich would like to reproduce with his wife Callista now that he no longer has a TV home with the Fox News Channel after leaving last year to run for president.
In an editorial meeting with The Daily Caller on Friday, Gingrich revealed these plans.
Callista and I are exploring doing a daily show but doing one that is probably closer to Regis and Kathie Lee than it is to Bill OReilly, Gingrich said. I dont know that I want to spend the next five years of my life doing an hour a night on attacking Barack Obama, or attacking the next president if its Romney because he wasnt conservative enough this morning when he had coffee except he wouldnt have coffee.
Gingrich explained they are still in the exploration phase in determining whether or not it would be a type of show that would draw an audience.
We have very broad interests, he said. We have lots of things we like doing. Were trying to explore whether or not theres an interesting enough show you can get an audience, because if you cant get an audience, you cant do shows.

I don’t think I could stand watching her hair for longer than a minute or so.
It creeps me out.
Oh see I think it would be a great show.
How about this? No.
Newt, just because you find her fascinating (in bed) doesn’t mean the rest of us want to hear her.
Or you, for that matter.
Time to pack it in. Callista is an permanent anchor. It is what it is.
Two things the American people will not accept for generations... co-presidents ...
and plotical dynasties, a la Bush or Clinton or Kennedy
That whole experience has left a dirty political taste with the American electorate.
You want a comedy team on TV?
Try Saturday Night Live; or the Comedy Channel.
Somebody needs to compete with The View
Well Newt... if you convert back to your fdr loving, “The era of Reagan is over” inner progressive, hollyweird is just going to love you to death.
That would be about as interesting as watching little fish cleaning someones feet in a bucket of water... ;-)
He is most interesting as a lecturer.
I think might make a decent political commentator on radio. Perhaps they could both host a radio show, if she has something to say.
But I honestly can’t see him doing tv. It’s a totally different style of showmanship.
Newt talking about nothing will BOMB....
He should stick to radio. Neither one of them has a face for TV.
