Anyone else wondering if maybe this could be a cover for the pick of Rubio? I've noticed that so far Rob Portman and Tim Pawlenty have announced that they received calls from Romney saying they wouldn't be his runningmate but declined to say who will. Thus far I haven't (correct me if I missed it) heard that Rubio has not heard it. It also seems strange that this news would leak this early and the time picked for the event tomorrow also seems odd. Does anyone else think that maybe the rumors about Ryan is just a cover for the pick of someone else, likely Rubio?
Rubio would backfire on Romney. Hispanics know Rubio is no Hispanic. He’s Cuban. Besides, how easy he submits to Amnesty and God knows what else..
God, I hope it’s Rubio. I love Ryan but he’s going to be to easy to demonize for the 10% of idiots who flip and flop to decide the presidency.
Oh yeah, and.. NBC said they have 3 credible sources who said ‘it’s Ryan’.
I’m still asking if it’s really Mitt Romney.
I’m with you. I like Ryan but it’s a little short-sighted, I think, to take him from his current position where he excels. Additionally, he doesn’t help (and may even hurt) with states like Florida where many Senior see any change, for better or worse, to Social Security or Medicare as the end of the world
LOL!
LOL
I wanted Newt, that said, Romney is far from stupid.
If Romney picks Ryan it means his team considers Florida in the bag and wants to go after Wisconsin.
Otherwise it would be Rubio for vp....
lol
Ryan would be a ‘I’m SERIOUS about fixing the economy’ message from Romney. I think it would resonate. Ryan is an attack dog but in a dignified, Reaganesque manner. And what a great ambassador either Ryan or Rubio would be. Not the limp-wristed panty waists we currently have.
i am ecstatic its not some squishy rino will be working hard for the RR ticket
just think ryan in 2020 i just had an orgasm
LOL... good one.
I believe Ryan would be awesome as well. But we live in a different time now. Children raised on the 15-second soundbite are allowed to VOTE. Substance matters to the over 30, but without the edge (hair, race, accent, funky little secret), it doesn’t carry the vote anymore.
Mind you, Willard amassed every dime of his vast wealth on his own as he inherited nothing....zip, zero, zilch, nada...from pops.
You don’t accumulate that kinda cheese with a bird-brain.
Look out for low flying RINOs, budgets as far as the eye can see, departments that live in perpetuity, ad nauseum. Hey, at least Ron Paul is out. Imagine what a nightmare that would be!
If so Breitbart and Drudge will look the fools too.
OMG that top middle picture looks like my brother! My brothers going to be VP!? :)
This is possible, but keep in mind it’s also 2am in the morning. I think this came out maybe just an hour ago, so all us night owls are tracking this and not normal people.
I wanted General David Patraeus, he has led our armed forces in tough battles, best choice for someone who had to make presidential decisions as commander-in-chief. Current CIA director, knows foreign policy.
Marco Rubio would be my 2nd choice
I hope Paul Ryan says no, it’s not his time and he’s moving up the ladder to become speaker. He would have to give that up to run for 2nd. Gravitas crap all over again
True. The fact I am up at 3 am (after being up at 5 this morning to go to work) just so I can track who might be named as VP- a post that except in the very rare occurrence of a tie in the senate does not really matter a whole lot- certainly puts some merit to my girlfriend’s allegations that I am a nerd. haha
That "what else" is the fact that Rubio is not a natural born citizen, and therefore not eligible.
BINGO!
Cubans are not Hispanic? Since when?

However, having a GF scuttles those allegations.
Florida is already a lock for Romney. It is Obama that is way below 50% in FLA.
Ryan brings the base home, HARD and FAST. He is a true blue conservative and wicked smart. That is a good pick.
Rubio is a little too green and untested for the big time. He would be great as Ryan's VP pick in 2020.
I have... mixed emotions about a Ryan pick. On the one hand, from the business and economic standpoint, the man is as sharp as they come and will not put up with the balderdash. How much effective control he will have is another story. VPs don’t really do/have much. But, he’s a lot better than a lot of the other names that have been tossed around.
Not the kind of Hispanics which comprise the bulk of America — MEXICANS!
We will have to see pictures to confirm said GF.
Hey, I have been maried, TO THE SAME WOMAN, for almost 12 years. I can try.
Really any pictures.
Ryan/Rubio 2020? Yep. I was thinking that myself. But don’t rule out Ted Cruz in 2020 either. Very smart man.
Why do you think FL is a lock?
It is. Obama is way below 50% in the polls in FLA and they rae still in major recession.
We could do far worse than Ron Paul if your interest is saving the US from financial collapse
yeah, but he brings a lot of crazy along for the ride!
Romney is also below 50% in FL per Rasmussen. I just don’t see the “lock.” Would love to see it, though!
But Romney is NOT the incumbant President. Everyone has an opinion on Obama and well over 50% of the FL electorate has decide they don’t like him as POTUS, so they will either vote for Romney or not vote at all, either way Romney picks up Florida.
Five minutes after the official announcement, Ryan will be the worst supervillain this country has seen since five minutes after Palin was announced in 2008. I love how lefty college kids (at least, that’s the mentality) hate someone with white hot passion that they hadn’t even really heard of just moments before.
By that logic he wins PA and OH (and probably every other state but CA, NY, HI and IL). I’m not complaining. I hope you’re right. But it seems a bit optimistic to me at this point. Is there precedent you could easily cite to back it up?
I think Romney has a very good chance of having a very big win for just that reason. Obama is a KNOWN quantity now and NOT especially attractive to the majority of the electorate.
I, like Rush and some others, do not think that this election will be close.
Romney has given a gift to the party—a great future leader who is focused on the one issue that is in the process of dumping the country straight into the dustbin of history (=out of control deficit spending).
He has given a gift to himself—assassination protection since his enemies hate Ryan more than they hate thim.
If true this is a brilliant move on all fronts—and some folks on FR may have to rethink their negative view on Romney.
This is his first big real decision—and it is an outstanding one.
I tend to hang onto Rush’s optimism about a landslide as well; however, he was pretty depressing on Thursday. Brought me down a bit.
