ROANOKE, VA --

Roanoke City Police are searching for a would be robber, who was scared off by an armed clerk.

According to police department spokeswoman Aisha Johnson, a man walked into Anwill Grocery in the 200 block of 24th Street on Tuesday, August 7th, just before midnight. The clerk said the man took out gun.

Johnson said the clerk told officers that he took out a gun himself, and fired a shot. That scared off the would be robber, who ran out of the store.

The clerk told officers that he followed the man outside, saw him get into a car, and drive-off.

If you have any information, call Roanoke City Police at (540) 853-5959.
