39% Have Favorable Opinion of Paul Ryan, 25% Unfavorable (Crucial Time Right Now for Ryan)
Rasmussen Reports ^ | 8-11-12 | Scott Rasmussen

Posted on 08/11/2012 2:20:40 PM PDT by GR_Jr.

Mitt Romney announced this morning that Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan will be his running mate.

Earlier polling found that 39% of all voters had a favorable opinion of Ryan, while 25% offered a negative review. Thirty-five percent (35%) express no opinion of Ryan. The congressman is relatively unknown to the nation at large. Only a third of voters have a strong opinion in either direction.

Wisconsin is a state both sides consider key to the presidential election. Right now, President Obama has a modest three-point lead over Romney in the state, and it remains a Toss-Up in the Rasmussen Reports Electoral College Projections. Alot of people don't know about Ryan yet. He's above water on the favorable/unfavorable ratings right now, but a lot of undecideds out there though. Team Romney better not let leftist define Ryan first or it's all over.

While the Church does not agree with Rand’s atheism, for most of the Church’s history they would have substantial agreement with Rand’s view on government and its role in charitable work. It is only in this last century that the Church has fallen into becoming the government’s underling in the social side.

Ryan helps to shore up the base but otherwise I don’t think he moves the needle. This election is all about whether you want four more years of Obama and, for the few who don’t have their minds made up, whether Romney is worth replacing Obama.

Don’t kid yourselves. I don’t think Ryan sways many voters one way or another which is another good reason why it was a good choice. He’s unlikely to lose anybody that was going to vote for Romney but don’t expect Ryan to steer Romney on policy except possibly fiscal policy.

My wife is a conservative who doesn't pay attention to politics. She said she never heard of Ryan.

The Democrats are already in FULL PANIC mode over this choice by Romney.

It says here that 36% of the electorate knows nothing about Ryan. Wait 'til they get to know him. Then you can see how REAL Democrat and liberal PANIC manifests.

Anyone who pays even a little attention to politics should know who Ryan is. People that don’t know probably don’t know much about Obama either.

Tears in my eyes as I view this photo of Ryan hugging his kids.

God bless and protect their family.

Ryan's pick was not for the indecideds, it was for the right wing of the Party, to energize it.

I think Romney has done that.

Government destroys charity. I don’t know her politics, but a minister I have worked with and donated to agrees with me. Rev Bobbie is amazing - she goes out in the middle of the night to help homeless folks. She agrees that government is not, never has been, and never will be compassionate.

I doubt 10% of the public at large even knows who Ryan is. It makes you wonder what pool of people they are polling, that 25% of them know enough about him to dislike him.

And 39% have a favorable opinion of him? 39%?

Four in ten people know who he is, and like him?

Wow. Who knew?

Will Freepers be shocked and dismayed if Ryan turned out to be a political boat anchor for Romney?

No, they'll still blame Romney, then blame the press, then blame dirty tricks, then blame one another for not supporting Santorum/Bachmann/Cain/Goode/Palin for the nomination.

There's already been "RINO Ryan" posts, more declaring their desire to reelected Obama because they just "don't care enough (about American)" to vote Romney/Ryan.

This was either genius or insanity by Romney. We'll know for sure in 87 days.

I am curious as to how old your wife is, if you don’t mind sharing. I realize that I’m a political junkie, and certainly know who Paul Ryan is. Wouldn’t expect my 22 year old son, though, to know who he is. Appreciate you sharing. Thanks!

It says here that 36% of the electorate knows nothing about Ryan.

My first thought when Ryan was selected was Who did he kill with cancer?

That same 25% would be against whomever was selected. The other 36% are saying “Paul who?”.

Up thread I stated that I doubted enough people know of Ryan, to produce the pro and con percentages reported in the lead article on this thread.

In that article it said 25% did not like Ryan and 39% did.  That's 64%.  Not so fast...

Just now, I ran into this.

In a poll taken earlier this week by CNN, 54 percent of respondents said they didn’t know enough to form an opinion, good or bad, about the congressman, first elected to the House in 1998 at the age of 28.
LINK

CNN thus reports that only 46% of the populace knows enough about Ryan to form an opinion.  How did the folks who produced the lead article on this thread come up with a group of 64% that knew enough about him to form an opinion?
