oh. 2004, breaking all records.
2007, another record crop.
2008, bumper crop.
2011, Bumper crop (60% increase).

Someone is collecting their data *after* harvest, in the lean couple of months :).

You will, after each bumber crop, see one or two big captures - to show the govt is up on the task. Then everyone can be happily drugged out of their skull for the enxt year.

If it wasn’t for Levin, I wouldn’t have heard about the US soldiers killed.

My son is an infantry platoon leader in eastern Afghanistan. He has 43 men and is responsible for 25 sq miles. He is basically the sheriff of that district.
His policy is that Afghans are assigned to his rifle squads, they are not allowed to have live rounds.
If they get into a firefight, mags will be allotted to them by the respective squad leaders, only after they have advanced forward of the US troops.
That may not be the official ROEs, but they are HIS ROEs.
He says he'll “shoot any bastard that points his weapon anywhere but down range in a NY minute". And has told his Squad leaders to do the same

Well, you'll have to read all of my posts....we're talking about the 2012 harvest which, locally at least, was a bust, something I think is implied very well taking in the full context of my posts (plural).

Monies, from the meager poppy crop, for the Taliban for HME supplies has made IED’s very valuable here, so much so that they'll risk exposure recouping a compromised emplacement to their own decimation.

Idiotic orders should be ignored. Your son is a good and courageous man. God protect him and his men.

Air, land, SEA. They are part of the Navy, not the Army, and it is important to them.

I’ll bet the 6 officers were prevented from going to the meeting armed because it may have given the appearance of intimidation.

No. This started with Petraeus in Iraq, trying to be Alexander the Great. I personally like the way God told the Israelites to go into the promised land, but that was because they were sacrificing their children by burning them alive. Kind of like abortion. The only legacy Afghanistan might have from the Greeks is their boy abuse and disregard for women.

There were 2 separate incidents. The first 3 lost were Marine Corps special ops with another wounded. There are conflicting stories. No word from the DOD.

Yeh -- its task of providing price support for its main export by reducing supply to drive up the price.

And include Mecca, Medina, Qom and a few other holy sites with those nukes. End Islam, when they can no longer complete the Haj their religion will die out like others have.

There are criminal warlords that control most of the poppy harvest and with the Taliban’s help a cut of the profit is realized for their terroist efforts.

A 10% harvest doesn’t make up the difference of price drive up.

In my area, this 10% of normal harvest has made the Taliban’s efforts more costly.

Calling a beery Marine in a bar “soldier” would be a good way to find out.
