As a result of unrelenting efforts by Democrats to shift their racist past onto the backs of Republicans, using the mantra: "the parties switched sides", a lot of people have requested an article addressing this issue.
It does not make sense to believe that racist Democrats suddenly rushed into the Republican Party, especially after Republicans spent nearly 150 years fighting for black civil rights. In fact, the racist Democrats declared they would rather vote for a "yellow dog" than a Republican because the Republican Party was known as the party for blacks.

Bull Conner was a Democrat and stayed a Democrat. KKK Byrd was a Democrat and stayed a democrat. Ernest “Fritz” Hollings - Gov South Carolina ( put the Confederate Battle Flag on the State Flag in the 60’s - was a democrat - stayed a Democrat. George Wallace was a democrat and never became a Republican... Thousands of others. Lester Maddox changed - I think he was the only one...
He was probably the last true Statesman.

She wrote an open letter to democrats that outlined THEIR racism throughout the decades so succinctly, that I kept a hard copy to share with others.
I’m going to see if she still has it posted to this site.

Only a racist would insist that standards be lowered for certain demographics in police/fire department qualification tests and college admissions.
It is the same as saying they are incapable of achieving the same results as everyone else.
Democrat Party, the party of racists and racism since before anyone’s great, great grandfather was born; the party of the KKK and Jim Crow; the party that fought civil rights every step of the way.
