So what? So they have money? So what? What about the Kennedys, clintins, obams, all the other rich dems? Is their money any better than Ryans?

Who’s the dude who wrote this stupid piece? He needs to grow up and face the world. Ya can’t keep blaming the rich on the conservative side without blaming the libs on the dum side. Also can’t keep blamin’ Bush.

This is gonna be fun to watch...whine, beg, cry, moan, sniffle, mad face... it’s a prerequisite for the left.

Probably cost him Florida to boot.

Do you assume this because of all the old people in FL who might be worried about their Medicare and Social Security? You might be surprised that Marco Rubio has taken a stand similar to Paul Ryan regarding both those programs, and has received tremendous support from the old folks in the state. Rubio apparently took the time to explain the ideas, and they made sense to the old folks, especially when it became clear to them that THEIR situations were not going to change.

If Paul Ryan makes this position clear to older voters in the rest of the country, I believe many will see the wisdom in NOT voting for Obama or any of the other Democrats, this time around.

Harry Reid has a $174,000 congressional salary and yet he’s worth ten million.
No word from the Los Angeles Times or other rats.

And with his wife being a tax attorney, she probably made more than he did.

I believe Janna Ryan hasn't worked as an attorney since they had their first child. She inherited some money from her parents, so that helped boost their family assets.

When Democrats bring this up, Republicans should answer with the fact that the Democrats didn't think having two millionaires on their ticket in 2004 was an issue, so why is it a problem now?

I am not assuming anything.

I know that the God on the White Horse Horse from Utah has given up on the hispanic and black vote by picking another rich white guy.

Not too bright, but old mormon prejudice dies hard.

He has however surrounded himself with all kinds of lisping fags on his campaign staff, so I guess he still has shot at the homo vote.

A problem? No

My mother did the same thing for us 3 kids.

My father died when I was 5, leaving Mom a widow at 30 with 3 kids

My mother collected social security benefits for us 3 kids and banked most of it

We lived off her income as part-time nurse and teacher, some insurance money, and rental income from a paid-off duplex my Mom and Dad bought before he died

She saved our SS benefits to pay for college aducations. All 3 of kids. No loans.

and BTW- for some years now, SS benefits have continued to age 22 if you are full time in school

the democrats have 2 millionaires now on their ticket

when have the democrats NOT had 2 millionaires on their ticket? Kerry. Edwards. Clinton. Gore. Lieberman. Who was the poor man here?

Ryan’s wealth is pretty modest for Congressman, puts him in
same league as obama and Biden actually.

living the American dream

what's the problem?

For DemocRATs, the American dream is to go into politics, scratching backs like Harry Reid, get involved with crony capitalism, and if you're lucky and play your cards right, go for the golden ring and become a multi-millionaire like Nancy Pelosi.

....look at Ryan’s standing among seniors. Despite the attacks on Ryan over his budget plan, he’s easily the most liked of the short-listers among likely voters 65 years of age and over, with a 52/29 favorability rating. His “very favorable” rating of 31% in the 65+ group is more than 10 points better than the other shortlisters in the Rasmussen survey

Ok, through inheritance and investment they are trying to paint him as the evil rich...

Given the dysfunctional of DC I'd consider it an asset that Paul and his Wife were good Stewards of this "Mercy" and Compounded this "Blessing". MY guess is they have a charitable component to it as well, but as many who are humble do not boast of it...

He is not blowing it on "Prancer's Delight" in the 5th"....

As a further comment, anyone here worked in the Financial Industry and delt with Inheritances or had an Inheritance themselves?

It is...

* Sometimes a shocker if you didn't know you were going to get one.
* Will impart a sense of fear or trepidation as you question why did I get it and how do I do something "good" with this family legacy.
* It can weigh on a person, until they become an astute investor or work with a professional towards obtaining goals and objectives.

Or, the Inheritor can be a spend-thrift and blow it all.

Again given what the Ryan's have done with theirs, I am comfortable with what he will recommend to do with the National Coffers...

by picking another rich white guy

I guess you missed the fact that he's the conservative with the best budget plan out there.

Or are you just a racist?

Dragnet2...I agree. Corruption and cronyism is the bane of our country’s existence, not politics. We can survive political differences. We can’t survive an ethos of corruption by politicians of both parties. It has even become acceptable and given a pass by many on their team.

When it comes to corruption in office by politicians (or any public servant), I strongly favor sharpening, dusting off and bringing out the guillotine. There’s nothing like a guillotine to put fear in the hearts of the political elite to keep them from straying. If we had one in the rotunda it would serve a purpose.
