Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi has sacked the entire leadership of the country's defense establishment.
Among the officials and officers fired are Defense Minister Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, and Chief of Staff Sami Anan.
Morsi appointed Abdul-Fatah al-Sessi as Defense Minister and Lieutenant-General Sidki Sayed Ahmed as Army Chief of Staff. A judge named Mahmoud Mekki was appointed vice president. Morsi also ordered the retirement of the commanders of the navy, air defense and air force. The retired navy commander, Lieutenant-General Mohan Mameesh, was named as chairman of the Suez Canal.
Morsi also cancelled all constitutional changes that gave the military enlarged powers.

A happy thing for that freak in the White House on an otherwise gloomy weekend.
This is probably actually good.
Their replacements will be guaged on their ideology/fanaticism, rather than military competence.
Like Stalin and his purges.
Will make it easier for the Israelis to kick their backsides and make it home in time for Sabbath.
Have the leaders of the Egyptian military agreed to their firings?

With the military in his control will the Hussein in the White House let Israel make a move?
I think that the Israelies don't give a damn what the Kenyan thinks; if they feel threatened, they shoot first and worry about the fallout later.
Makes me wonder how the officers in the lower ranks will play this.
How will the troops react?
I’d say Egypt is long overdue for a coup.
is a dead man walking.
What comes after that...is something I do wish we could help what Christians are still there, to leave & flee from.
But to where? How? I don't know if you are a praying man, but if you are, do as you may best be lead.
Yup. Egyptian civil war (full blown) soon.
In other news the LSM considers unworthy of reporting, Egypt had started striking targets in “Palestine.” No word on who authorized that.
I doubt Morsi would have made the move if there was not already a MB membership in depth among the military, sufficient to preventing a coup.
Another obama foreign policy success! /s
I was wondering the same thing. You just don’t walk in and say, “hey you...get the F out.”
Either this was the plan. Or they are dead.
I don’t see much room for light in between.
“Muslim Brotherhood anti-army coup in Cairo. Tanks move up to Israel border”

Nope. I don’t believe they did.
I think that Morsi and Egypt better not get Israel riled. One misstep on their part and Israel could defeat them with a single missile .... a nuke on the Aswan Dam! It would be one of the shortest wars ever.
But it isn’t important to get Obama out of the white house. I don’t know if the US can survive 4 more years but I bet Israel won’t.
The MB may be ideological, but they aren’t that militarily inept.
Said missile would not even necessarily have to be a nuke. Methinks though, that the misstep has already taken place, with Morsi's actions vis-a-vis the Egyptian military establishment. Morsi has removed the somewhat saner portions of Egypt's military, to replace them with fanatical types which would back hostilities against Israel. The die is already likely cast, and Aswan High Dam is "a dead man walking"...
