Dear Florida Seniors: You Should Be THRILLED By Paul Ryan
Business Insider ^ | 08/14/2012 | Joe Weisenthal

Posted on 08/13/2012 7:59:56 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

Paul Ryan is committed to radically changing Medicare into a voucher program, and Democrats are hoping that they can turn this fact into an issue that destroys Romney's chances in Florida, a state filled with entitlement-happy seniors that is a must win for the Republican.

But if Florida seniors were thinking rationally and self-interestedly, this Democratic attack would flop.

Paul Ryan is proposing no changes to Medicare for another 10 years, so anyone currently 55 or older wouldn't be affected at all.

And if you assume that the law won't get passed for a couple years, you can safely assume this issue is 100% irrelevant to anyone 53 or older.

The distinguishing characteristic of Florida is old people, but if the law doesn't even affect anyone who is older than their early 50s, it really shouldn't be a problem in Florida at all.

But wait! There's more!

In addition to not touching Medicare for years, Paul Ryan is an anti-inflation, pro-austerity, hard money hawk.

Yay- another post slamming the elderly who worked all theirl ives thinking htey were putting away retirement money via government mandate onlty to find out soem don’t think they are entitled to it once they retire- YES- some folks get back more than htey put in however, lots of folks die before ever receiving SS and so it goes with a prograqm designed to help folks i ntheir years when htey can no logner work- and ALL of them put into the system knowing they might never lvie long enough to recveive it but they did it knowing that IF they didn’t live long enough, the money would then bwe a safety net retirement for htose who did live long enough- but apaprently some htink the elderly shouldn’t be taken care of after they’ve taken care of so many all their lives?

Gallup Poll showing that Seniors prefer Ryan’s budget plan over Obama’s.

“Ryan’s plan includes a complete restructuring of Medicare for people younger than 55. Pluralities of middle-aged Americans as well as those 65 and older prefer Ryan’s plan to Obama’s....”

The people turnout for Mitt Romney, in St Augustine, Florida this morning tells the entire story of Florida. Florida goes GOP!!! Side bar: GOPs turn out by the thousands for tomorrow’s primary election. Dwarf the Democrat primary vote to shreds.

Since Paul Ryan has 85 first cousins living in his district, he may as well be called Mr. Smith! LOL

There is a reason he gestured towards the right side of his audience of 13,000 yesterday and referred to them as “my family”.

Sadly, Social Security is the biggest Ponzi scheme ever foisted on ignorant people. As in all Ponzi schemes, the first ones to cash in did great. Today it is a money pit for young workers who will put in much more than they’ll take out. If you die one day before you are 65, the government keeps all the money you put in and your family gets nothing. And the Supreme Court has ruled that a payout was never guaranteed to those “contributing,” so the government could keep ALL the money when China wants us to pay back the trillions we’ve borrowed from them. You would get nothing.

Who in God’s green earth voted to put such a corrupt system in place? We should dig up the bones of those who swindled the gullible through this scam and inter them at Alcatraz under a banner that reads, “Never Again.”

I wasn’t commenting on what seniors think- I was commenting on whjat peopel think of seniors and the articles that are written about seniors and abotu the leftist ideology that seniors aren’t really entitled to SS because SOME get back more than they put in- The FACT of the matter is that it was desigfned as a program based o n statistical betting where many would put in but not live long enough to receive and hte money woudl then go toward paying thsoe who do live long enough and receive more than htey put in- it’;s liek ANY insurance program where it’s there IF you need it, but when you do need it, you get mroe out of it than you ever put in because statistically, there are less accidents than not, and most peopel pay into the program all theirl ives without ever collecting- but hte assurance that IF they ever need it. it’s there to cover them

The left is all for the4se programs BUT they are VERY jealous of the recipients when they actually receive the money that they paid out all their lives into a program they were led to beleive would be there to cover them if and hwen they neede3d it i ntheir later years should they survive long enough to need it and can no logner help themselves

The moeny goign in was suppsoed to be UNTOUCHED by the governmet or at htem ost invested and oput BACK INTO the program- however, the government used htem oeny themselves, and never repaid what they STOLE from workign class people, and now our seniors who in good faith paid into the system for many years, are facing the possibility of not gettign ANY assistance ferom the government because ‘SS is running out of money’ (however, we can throw hundreds of billions of dollars into NASA and into useless ‘research’ and wasteful oprojects that do nothing but satisfy union workers and leaders- but we can’t help out our senouirs whom our government PROMISED would be taken care of IF only these people payed into the SS systenm?

Our government’s priorities are truly screwed up- and htey have hsown over and over again that they no longer respect seniors and hteir elders (whom inicdeentkly made it possible for these creeps in government to now thrive)-

There is a sentimentality lately that seniors ‘don’t deserve’ SS apparently because ‘they MIGHT get back more than they put in” and there is a growing movement it seems to deny seniors the ability to reap what they’ve sown (our leftist government wants to reap what others have sown- yet there’s no outcry agaisnt that by the left?), and it’s just rediculous especially when htese sdame people who are crying foul think nothign of collecting on house or car insuraqnce If they should need it- getting back more than htey put in0- but nope- that doesn’t bother them i nthe least- it’s only seniors, those too fragile to fight for their cause, that the gleftist government and those who think the elderly aren’t entitled to the SS are targetting

Anyways- there is a real anger towards seniors that I’m seeing crop up in posts over hte past few years because peopel think thgey are ‘bilking the system by living longer and collecting more than they put in’

Really? Seriously? That’s BS! It was an insurance plan, one sponsered and mandated by our government, and peopel paid out WILLINGLY nkowing htey may never live long enough to collect, but knowing thewiur mopney that they paid out to the govenrment woudl go to help someone else (or so they thought- not understansdign that outr government woukld squander thsoe payments away!!!)- and liek ANY insurance programs, some pay more in, some get more out, but it all averages out i nthe end, with hte insurance company actually gettign profit , and htat’s how insurance co9mpanies stay in business- that;s how SS was suppsoed to work- it’s NOT the fault of seniors that our government spent the SS money and it’s NOT the elderly’s fault that our governmet cares more abotu throwing good money at bad projects and then turns aroudn and declares our seniors will have to go without-

Our government promises promises promises, and once they have our trust, they turn aroiudn time and time again and stab ogood peopel i nthe back so that the government’s cronies can profit maqssively off the backs of good and hopnest people

That is what UI was commenting about- the sentiment that old folks aren’t entitled to SS, and portrayign them as some kind of money grubbing greedy entitlement minded foklks- not on how seniors feel abotu Ryan’s plan

[p[Today it is a money pit for young workers who will put in much more than they’ll take out]]

Not necessarily- the population is swinging- women once had less babies, then more, now less again- and hte average ‘worker per retired’ ratio is startign to head back to what it was again- the ‘baby boomer’ generation, then hte4 lack of families havign kids for awhile, did throw a kink into the system a bit, however, there are still more workers per retiring person patying into the system (3-1 I beleive) and that ratio is growing as the average babies per family levels out again

The point being, the system is not failing because of what we the peopel did to it- it’s failing becvause our gvoernment is nothign but crooks!

[[ If you die one day before you are 65, the government keeps all the money you put in and your family gets nothing.]]

I beleive in msot cases, the spouse gets some, and in some cases children get some- but that money that does get confiscated by the government is SUPPOSED to go back into SS but our goernemnt is NOT putting it back in

The stystem was like any insurance program when it was begun- however, our leftist government has little by little gotten hteir greedy little hands into the pie, and ruined it for everyoen, and now they are turnign around and tryign to blame the elderly for it? Claiming it’s because they are ‘living longer’ that the system is goign broke? aND CLAIMIGN THAT ADVANCED MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIES LIEK LIFE SUPPORT keep people alive longer are the reasons it’s goign bankrupt? BS! There shouyld have been more than enough to cover ALL of this and much much more- but our gvoernment blew them oney-

you’re right, it has turned into a scheme- however, our government has the ability to make it right again IF they so choose to0- by cutting funding to the vast array of usele4ss and money wastign programs and ‘studies’ and gvoernemtn waste and fraud- but isntead, the elderly, who are least able to fend for themselves, will suffer for our goventrment’;s sins

"Today it is a money pit for young workers" They also think the "bill" for Obamacare is going to be paid by someone other than themselves.
