New Obama panic: Romney crowd sizes
Washington Examiner ^ | Aug 13, 2012 | Staff

Posted on 08/13/2012 1:56:04 PM PDT by Red Badger

The recent frantic email theme to supporters from Team Obama about Mitt Romney's run-away fundraising successes has been expanded to the crowd size gap between the thousands who rushed out over the weekend to see Romney and new running mate Rep. Paul Ryan and the hundreds who cheered on President Obama.

The big worry expressed in a new email from Obama's Chicago HQ: "The Republican base is energized." The reason: Romney attracted 15,000 at a rally over the weekend.

The email:

Paul --

I just got this disturbing report: Yesterday's Romney-Ryan rally in North Carolina pulled in an overflow crowd of 15,000 people.

There's no spinning that number. It's a LOT of people, and the Republican base in energized.

And that's not all. Since the VP announcement, Romney's campaign has brought in over 70,000 donations from his Tea Party base.

We've got to step up our game and mobilize our supporters -- starting right now.

Donate $3 or right now to help us rally our base around President Obama's agenda >>

Listen to what one Republican supporter said about Paul Ryan: "I love him...He's going to excite the Tea Party and get them on board..."

We can't let the Republicans claim the momentum. Donate $3 or whatever you can:

On another thread there is a discussion of Axelrod's remarks yesterday--remarks which compared the new voter enthusiasm for Ryan with that of four years ago for Palin.

What these folks may be realizing is that Palin and Ryan may turn out to be the one-two punch that will defeat "hope and change" and replace that fraudulent and counterfeit invitation to slavery with the only authentic idea which ever has brought freedom, opportunity, and prosperity to a nation.

Palin's fresh "common-sense" approach caused enthusiasm, and Ryan's unique ability to articulate America's founding ideas will bring real "change" to the understanding of voters. Their combined appeal will help to engender a new sense of individual worth and the "People-over-government" idea which gave birth to America.

Instead of falling into the so-called "progressive" tactic of dividing people by ethnic background, level of income, etc., Paul Ryan enables Romney's campaign to articulate the singularly American idea that Creator-endowed life, rights and liberties belong to every individual, and that those ideas are, therefore, unalienable and are not grants from government, nor are they available for proscription by government.

That idea, if articulated clearly, will be understood by each citizen who catches the Founders' meaning, to be applicable to that citizen, and to work to that citizen's benefit to provide opportunity and freedom.

For decades, the "progressive movement" has sought to eradicate that idea from textbooks and public discourse, because the power of that idea ennobles, dignifies, and causes individuals to resist the appeal of those who wish to enslave them.

What, no mention of the 10,000 plus at Manassas, VA on Saturday? (I was there.) Oh, and my wife was shopping in Leesburg a couple of weeks ago when Zero was there and she saw very few people at the Zero rally. And these are both Northern Virginia locales where Zero’s base is supposed to be strong.

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. Palin drew similar crowds, yet McCain lost NC. It was a squeaker, but a loss. Unless unprecedented numbers show up (say 50K), this isn’t anything to write home about.

If someone else’s hard work has to provide you with something, then it is not a right, it is charity.

If someone orders you to provide someone with something, then it is not a charity, it is theft.........

The UNalienable definition hasn’t been enforced in our country. It means that not only can these rights not be taken away from you (INalienable), you are further incapable of even voluntarily giving up those rights.

I am not exactly a contributor to anything. The wife says we donated to George W, once. As interested as I am in politics my feeling through thick and thin has been my few bucks were not going to make the difference.

Yesterday, after the Ryan selection, I responded to a Romney email and donated. I think I will do that a few more times between now and November.

It wasn’t just Ryan, I knew that defeating Obama is an absolute priority to save this greatest nation on Earth.

True but here's the big difference: at the time Obama was drawing big crowds too. Remember how he would fill every venue he spoke at and was able to fill Mile High Stadium? The 2012 version of Obama is vastly, vastly different he couldn't fill Mile high today. Hell there's speculation he won't be able to fill BOA Stadium. Secondly, in 2008 McCain by himself was barley able to fill anything, it was only Palin that was able to draw in the big crowds. Today in FL hundreds of people were turned away from an event in which only Romney was speaking, another good sign. When your side is outdrawing the other side you're doing pretty damn good. If Romney was only drawing half empty rooms like Obama did yesterday I would be hitting the panic button, I'm not doing that now because it wouldn't make sense.
