Complaints prompt water park to end discounts for church groups

Now, no one gets the discount.

A water park in the heart of the Bible Belt is ending the $5-per-person discount it had been offering on its entrance fee to church groups after the head of a secular charity that caters to inner-city youths requested the same deal for its kids.

The Willow Springs Water Park in Little Rock, Ark., had been knocking a few dollars off the price of admission for people who came to the park with their church group. The entrance fee was lowered 50 percent to $5 for children who came in that context. However, when Leifel Jackson, executive director of Reaching Our Children and Neighborhoods (ROCAN), a secular non-profit that seeks to help inner-city youth, asked if the 35 kids he wanted to bring to the park could get the same discount, he was rebuffed by a park office worker.

Next step: Put up a BIIIIIG sign explaining why there will be no more discounts and make sure to list the organizations’ names and contact numbers so that people can express their displeasure in an appropriate manner.

He should’ve just claimed to be with the Church of Satan, Scientologists or the Temple of Mother Gaea.

Why are the crowds at most water parks and big amusement parks overwhelmingly dominated by minorities?
I guess minorities really like those places. Or maybe white people simply tend to avoid them? (shrug) I dunno...

I believe white people tend to avoid them.

Not too many people enjoy the antics they have to put up with.

The biggest problem in my opinion could be solved by selling tickets to the individual rides instead of one ticket for the park for the day.

Its actually not a “racist” or a minority thing at all. I can tell you from my experience as being a lifeguard, its more of a there’s a lifeguard on duty (s)he will watch them kids for 50 cents. Yeah parents would drop off their snibbling little kids - be they white brown blue yellow purple or gold- for the day and go to work or something else. its a cheap form of having a babysitter. So its only natural large groups like this will do this in the summer to shirk their responsibilty of watching these kids during the day while the sun is warm. They are forced to watch them in the winter.

Hey its all in the name of fun for the kids right? /sc off

The same Leifel Jackson.

Leifel Jackson, who claimed to have founded Little Rock’s “Original Gangster Crips” in the early 1990s and spent nearly 10 years in prison

Gov. Mike Beebe announced Friday his intention to grant pardons to nine Arkansans, including a man who claimed to have founded Little Rock’s “Original Gangster Crips” in the early 1990s and spent nearly 10 years in prison on drug convictions.Leifel Jackson, 47, known as “O.G.” during his criminal days, said that during his time in prison, he learned to read and began thinking about the damage his drug dealing had caused. After his release in 2001, Jackson began working with organizations tackling youth violence, activities that authorities cite in support of his pardon.
Beebe spokesman Matt De-Cample said he knew of no law enforcement agencies that opposed the proposed pardon.

Don't know if there is an ACORN association.
