Gov. Chris Christie, who has electrified GOP audiences in appearances across the country, will deliver the keynote address at the Republican National Convention in Tampa this month, party leaders will announce Tuesday.
In a statement obtained by The Star-Ledger, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said the brash governor, an early supporter of Mitt Romney, is the right choice to rally the party in the effort to defeat President Obama

That will be epic.
And Donald Trump has a very much more important job there other than speaking, which he could have done but he chose this other secret thing he cannot talk about. I know what it will be. He will produce the results of his investigation in Hawaii and show the real birth certificate.
Looking forward to hearing from Christie the pugilist!
How nice. Which other GOP-e or RINO muppets will start speaking at the convention?
And I am supposed to care? Yawn
It did not take long for Romney and company to revert to squishy Moderate form after choosing his token Conservative.
CINOMANIA!!! It’s just disappointing that Meghan McCain and Lisa Murkowski both turned down the honor, beforehand.
Conservatives in places like NY or CT only wish they had a Chris Christie to relieve the one party misery of those states.
I suggest structural improvements to the stage.
That would be amazing, but I think he’s simply going to say, “Obama, YOU’RE FIRED”.
He could always wear a plain white shirt, and they can use him as the projection screen. ;)
Don’t let him at the buffet until after he speaks. Ann Coulter needs some food.
A Must Restaurant is the Columbia Restaurant in Ybor City.
Don’t worry, the GOP is going to go for a setup like this:
Yep, that will be great.sarc. Is Christie gonna be speaking in arabic,or farsi like his islamic buddies he’s been pushing for judgeships.
Christi will speak...Yawnnnnnnnnnnnnnn. Sarah Palin will not speak. Lame. I probably won’t be watching.
Trump endorsed Obama in 2008. Don’t be surprised if before November he decided he will endorse Obama again. They usually do.
I guess it’s pretty much declared that the Convention will be a conservative-free zone.
This is a good move. I think I heard that Obama is polling under 50 percent in New Jersey. It’s a stretch, I know, but with Christie speaking it might sway some more Jersey voters to Romney.
Yes... 4x8 posts, 16” apart, with two layers of 1” luan. That should do it. Hopefully Candy Crowley won`t waddle up there to get a post-speech interview.
Speaking of The Portly Man, imagine him as the nominee.. with Mike Huckabee as the “running” mate.
I certainly don’t agree with some of the things Christie has done - such as the judges he has appointed, but, I will say this - that man can talk, and will take it to the DEMS in no uncertain terms. He isn’t a conservative by any means, however, he is great for the state of NJ.
Its possible he just might sway some DEMS to vote for Romney. I think the residents of the Garden State like their governor. I love to hear him rip some people a new butt hole. (can I say that on here?)
You mean the fat, Muslim Brotherhhod supporting, RINO from NJ?
Gov. Crispy Cream of NJ is absolutely the wrong OPTIC for the party.
He will represent a party which is out of touch with starving poor people.
