Chad Johnsonís Miami Dolphins career was short, eventful and properly terminated

Give Chad Johnson this much: The man might have had the most eventful Dolphins career of any player in club history among those who appeared in exactly one game — an exhibition at that — and dropped the only pass thrown his way.

Quick chronology of Johnson’s two summer months with Miami:

Gets married in wedding filmed for planned new reality show.

Has surname legally changed from Ochocinco back to Johnson.

Says hello to Dolphins with profanity filled introductory news conference.

Is admonished by coach Joe Philbin to quit spewing F-bombs publicly in an intended private conversation aired nationally on HBO’s Hard Knocks.

Gets arrested for head-butting his newlywed wife Evelyn in a domestic incident.

Is cut by Dolphins.

Learns his planned reality series, The Ev & Ocho Show, set to launch in September, has been cut by VH1.

I think that about catches us up.

At Dolphins camp Monday the talk was all about how the former Ochocinco suddenly was the former Dolphin, and also about how one prominent teammate, linebacker and defensive leader Karlos Dansby, outspokenly blasted the Dolphins for not standing behind Johnson and giving him another chance.

Dansby isn’t right. Philbin made the right decision in letting go of Johnson even if it won’t be entirely popular within the locker room.

Hopefully, this sort of notoriety will stop being rewarded. Johnson obviously felt entitled to be a thug. America's youth will do much better without role models and "reality" stars" like this guy and other men and women like him, who have money thrown at them.

He’ll probably hook up with another team; like the Raiders to cite one.

He’s exploring other horizons:

........”In the Saturday 911 call, Johnson’s neighbor repeatedly urges police to not make a huge scene when coming to the neighborhood. Though not mentioning Johnson by name, he tells the operator the case involves a “high profile person.”

“We’d like to keep it as quiet as possible,” the neighbor says. “We don’t need the news here.”

For such a celebrity couple, keeping the matter private would prove to be impossible. On Monday, the Internet was ablaze with articles and Twitter comments about Johnson’s downfall. Always a prankster, Johnson earlier this month told the media that he would pursue a career as a porn actor if the Dolphins cut him from the team.

Now, with Johnson’s career in shambles, a Miami-based porn film studio even tweeted that its “door is open” for the six-time Pro Bowl player.”...

Any team that takes on Johnson would be merely enabling him. He’s a spoiled child. Time he grows up.

My money would be on the Eagles or Ravens.

We need a fantasy football league where you win by having the team with the most felonies.

My guess is that he’s spent most of what he has earned over the years, and he’s got virtually nothing left.

He damn sure won’t wind up with the Packers. They won’t put up with that kind of crap from their players. Players who project a bad image are GONE!

Johnson became a serious embarrassment and distraction in my home town of Cincinnati, and I was ecstatic to see him leave.

The very notion that America would idolize someone who plays a game with an oblong ball, would pay him millions, would listen to his opinions, and would laugh at his seriously narcissistic antics is an indictment of this nation.

The media is pretty lax about reporting the other side of pro-sports retirement and financial collapse.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1153364

According to the article 60 % of NBA players and 78% of NFL athletes go bankrupt within a few years of retirement.

Considering that it's a nation which elected, in a fit of idolatrous glee, a man who throws like a girl, allowed him to loot its future, swooned over his speeches (never mind his opinions, couldn't be bothered, he sounded good), and still has many that would vote for him a second time, you shouldn't be surprised.

I don’t suppose Chad’s ever been a big believer in saving for a rainy day.Assuming I’m correct he might be in for some relatively tough times, fiscally speaking. If I’m wrong he should be able to live a comfortable life in front of his TV.
