..........Furthermore, the results show, using 9,800 optogenetically stimulated ganglion cell responses, that the combined effect of using the code and high-resolution stimulation is able to bring prosthetic capabilities into the realm of normal image representation.

The point is they cracked the retina's code and have the technology available to begin human trials on restoring full vision to hundreds of millions within a year.

Praise God!

From an examiner.com synopsis of the paper:
The researchers determined the encoding pattern that normal vision requires to translate retinal responses into nerve impulse patterns that are transferred from retina to ganglion cells and eventually to the brain where the impulses are interpreted as vision.

The researchers developed a small implant (prosthetic device) that translates the visual input into electrical impulses similar enough to those produced in normal vision to allow blind mice to discern facial features and track an image.

Essentially, they claim to be able to translate a video image into the set of neural impulses that your retina would produce. An artificial eye which interfaces to the optic nerves.

I wonder how far off we are from being able to insert additional data into the view field of a normal eye.

My bad, I read it as rectal the first time instead of retinal. It changes everything. Whew.

That's coming too ~ the "BTT PLUG" ~ uses otherwise unoccupied space in the lower bowel to store your electronic interface gear!

Should enable you to get online and stay online forever ~

Some pretty serious REVERSE ENGINEERING -

another indication of

INTELLIGENT DESIGN.

Self assembling machinery seem to be part of the universe's basic structure ~ so why not the whole thing ~ and everything in it.

The intelligence is so far advanced, most can only barley glimpse comprehension of it.

It's logical to decentralize the manufacturing centers to distant localities. It's also logical to enable the centers to use the locally available materials.

Supremely brilliant design!

This is excellent news for those who have lost their sight.

On the other hand, it is sobering news when one remembers a prophecy current among us Orthodox Christians: In the days of Antichrist, all Christ’s miracles will be reproduced, except that the dead will not be raised. (Note the subtlety in the wording: it is not Antichrist who will reproduce the miracles, only that they will be reproduced.)

Every bit of news of neural-digital interfaces convinces me more and more that the “mark of the beast” will include, or perhaps be, a neural-digital interface, which is why getting it will cause damnation — one will not be able to repent of having made oneself less than human, and won’t want to because of the way the “mark” will inflame the passions. As for not being able to buy and sell, that’s probably just the effect of the implementing legislation: anyone who doesn’t accept the “mark” won’t have any money to buy and sell because they will be subject to a confiscatory tax (thanks Justice Roberts) after all, providing health care and government services to those who aren’t on the network is prohibitively expensive. . .

Thanks for the post. I have wet AMD in my right eye. I have been undergoing treatment (Avastin injections) for the past three plus years. It is now arrested and I suppose I’m a bit old for that transplant at seventy-five, but it’s good to know that younger people will benefit from this.
