Police were called to a church in St. Louis this morning for crowd control after an unexpectedly large crowd gathered on rumors of applying for $500 food vouchers.
St. Louis police spokesman Dave Marzullo initially said police had responded to crowds at a blood drive but later corrected that statement.
Howard Walker, an administrator at St. Louis Powerhouse Church, and also a representative for Advanced Marketing Promotions, LLC, said the hundreds of people gathered for the event at the church, were tempted by the chance at the vouchers...

I wonder if the police would have to be called if there was an offer of guaranteed jobs.
Based on the pics, they're VERY effective, LOL.
There's another scam going around where scammers email or phone the victim saying Obama will pay their utility bills if they give their SS and bank acct numbers.
Getting a lot of action, because it's so believable.
Typically their accounts don't have a lot of dough to loot, but they open up credit cards with the info and run those up.
“Look at the picture!!!! Do they really need even one more bit of food for the next month or two?”
This bunch seems to be in better shape regarding food ‘storage’ than myself, and I’m a prepper.
Not a single suburban soccer mom in the bunch.

Some members of the crowd became irate after they were sold fake applications for the vouchers., .... Attendees were given applications for UPside Visa cards and were told they would recieve a debit card in the mail that they must keep activated for $1 a month. The $500 food vouchers would arrive along with the cards, Walker said. According the UPside Visa card website, they are prepaid debit cards targeting teenagers and customers who don't use banks. A Visa spokesman said the event was not sanctioned by Visa, but likely connected to a financial institution that issues credit to consumers.

Must be my firewall, I clicked and nothing showed up. Thanks.
These are some of the fattest starving people I’ve ever seen. Some of these folks are so big their pallbearer will be a forklift.
there was a rumor that there was free stuff and they com running because they’re like Pavlov’s dogs and free stuff is the bell.
If they put this kind of effort into finding and keeping a job instead of a few short bursts of energy to stay on the dole, they would be skinny, educated and employed. These people will always be looking for the next promise of free stuff.
How sad.
ain’t that the truth.....

The Greater St. Louis combined statistical area's (CSA) population of 2,882,932 is the 15th-largest CSA in the country, the fourth-largest in the Midwest.
The working people of St Louis long ago escaped to the suburbs.
I guess they’re applying the Dune water storage axiom and applying it to food:
“Axiom: the best place to conserve water is in your body.”
I wonder if someone could start a rumor on election day about free food cards in major US cities. Might effect voter turnout a little...;)
Likely another identity theft scam.
Obama zombies. Ozambas.
