Yes, I've been amused by that for some time. I suspect their interest mostly has to do with the panther carving at the center of the back. You have to wonder how they found it, though. Can't help but thinking back to 1968, where the most radical of the anti-Vietnam War crowd staged what became a riot in Chicago outside the Democratic convention. That probably resulted in the narrow Nixon win vs. Humphrey. So you could say it worked against their own interests.
